Dec 3, 2015 It's not a matter of interpretation, the Qur'an explicitly says to k--- those who oppress you and wage war against you.
Dec 3, 2015 I meant how you interpret the west being at war with u or not The Quran says k--- who is trying to k--- you...ok and? That seems reasonable
Dec 3, 2015 Again, this is an apples to oranges comparison. a) people DO associate Christianity with hate crimes all the time. And atheists will often point to violent acts in history to try and discredit Christianity b) These Christian hate crimes are denounced by every single Christian organization. However, many Muslims sympathize and support these acts of violence. c) Of course there are questionable statements in the Bible, but the difference is, I can take quotes out of the bible and tell everyone that they are horrible and no one will accuse me of anything. However, if I were to post on Facebook quotes from the Quran that I found terrible, I'd be labeled Islamaphobic.
Dec 3, 2015 People keep wanting to make this issue so black & white. Majority of it falls in a grey area. Like you said, it's about interpretation. I'm sure this guy reads the Quran. Sounds like he had an argument with a coworker and says, ok, this guy/girl opposes me so I'm going to take action. It doesn't make the Quran the issue, the issue is the f---ing psychopath who decides to settle a work dispute with murder. Every religion is going to have lunatics like this. Most KKK members are more than likely Christian, does that make the bible evil? Of course not.
Dec 3, 2015 if we want to get technical, that doesnt mean you should k--- him...you have to be under real threat of getting killed
Dec 3, 2015 No I understand that, I'm saying the shooter can interpret it in his own way to "justify" what he did and that's on him, not the Quran.
Dec 3, 2015 ISIS has full authority in the Qur'an to commit these atrocities. It's not the only interpretation, but it is a textualy valid one. They're trying to provoke the end of the world. I highly recommend this article.
Dec 3, 2015 lol at recommending an article for me to read when i know the Quran inside out and i know whats false and whats not
Dec 3, 2015 your a white boy...you think you can tell me what the Quran says? i have this argument already on reddit and i had the Quran opened and i compared it to the "translated" verses in those "articles" they are laughably wrong
Dec 3, 2015 You're not arguing with me. You're arguing with Bernard Haykel: Ph.D. in Islamic and Middle-Eastern Studies from Oxford, Fullbright Scholar, Guggenheim Fellowship, celebrated author, etc. Sounds legit to me.
Dec 3, 2015 When you're saying the translations are wrong, do you mean the ones in the article are flat out false, or the message doesn't translate clearly in english?
Dec 3, 2015 yea im not gonna have this argument again since its just all big propaganda...i know what the f---in words say and its not what in the translations
Dec 3, 2015 can you post the ones in the article as im not gonna go through another one of those again 1- some are flat out made up 2- some horribly translated 3- some are accurate but taken completely out of context we are not misguided arab guys..the Quran flat out forbid us to k---...its not a conspiracy
Dec 3, 2015 btw i skimmed through, is the article about ISIS wanting the world to go back to how it was 1400 years ago? cuz yeah thats like 5 years old news lol
