3. Freaky



Part of the recent leaks, this song probably had more potential than any other track to be one of the biggest hip hop songs of the year. 5000 for Yeezys, they think I ain't Jesus. A Kanye feature on this, as planned, would've honestly broke Narsh. I would've went into hiding to jerk off for a few weeks straight, or had a seizure from typing too fast. Best part is that it's still impeccable without Kanye's blessings. She be my darling, yeah she my Barbie. I just wish I got to see Kanye ride the incredible flow Thug laid out for him. I hope out the rari, I'm leaving it started.

Top 5 out of the leaks for me and quickest 5 mins ever.

I can't believe people care about s--- like 3500 more than this...if this is actually Travis producing, he should stick to that tbh.

I'm a big ol blood inside this little nation, might be one of my favorite rap lines, ever -- no hyperbole.

10. About The Money (ft. Young Thug)



For #10, here's one of my favorite Thug features to date (and the reason TI is even a thing in 2015). This song took over like the last half of 2014 for my friends and I...and it was glorious. From the most absurd ad libs (I think I hear karate chops) to one of the biggest hooks in recent memory, Thug successfully converts TI into one of his slimed win this joint and I don't think TI has let go Thugs influence since then. He's clearly a big fan lol.

4. Beast

"I call my mamma Makaveli she gon' ride with me"

One of new favorites from the leaks...songs like this, Myself, Red Star etc where its just thug going off for an extended amount of time about his relationships, kids, family, etc are what most casual "fans" seem to miss (or just ignore). This track not only constantly switches up, especially when you least expect it ("then i bounce back on her! imma catch that b---- and make her bite like a piranha!"), it features some of Thug's best singing this side of Givenchy ("offiiiiiiiiicer, saveee meee, im soo gone off this puuurrp). It's layered, introspective, but still carefree in a way that the kid in Thug can never seem to let go (even when inciting the personas of Tupac and Biggies). And the way he twists words man ("I went from rapping to raaaaaygeee (reggae)")

"I swear the baddest b------s got the biggest foreheads
Even when she mad she never take me to court, ay
Im uptown ay Im uptown, Im passin New Orleans"

The part towards the end following that hook ^ is one of my favorite moments in recent memroy....CHOPPER CIIIIIIIIITAAAAAAY >>>>>>

There is ONE really sus line in this song, but Ill let you guys find it yourself haha. Song is perfect. And only one of my many in this vein.

2. Halftime



One of the 3 best tracks on Thug's recently "retail mixtape," Barter 6, Halftime, as MIC once put it, arguably shows "as much as technical skill as Em's shown his entire career, sans maybe k--- You" (Im paraphrasing here). Technical skill doesn't just have to do with multi-syllabics. Thug transitions from beautiful bridges to seamless melodies, only to throw the whole equation off balance by one extended syllable (re-cy-cles) -- before magically flipping the entire rhythm of the song on its head. And he never misses a beat. The lyrics are insanely self-aware (every time I dress myself, it go mofuckin' viral), and the hook is smooth as can be. Infectious, really (as is most of his finished/mastered material).

The recently released music video is also hilarious (my favorite part is the "f--- her on a $10,000 bed" bit, or when he drops his money/bowls some imaginary object @ the airport).

50. Guarantee (ft. Ayanis)



How are we already @ 50?!? smh.

I was going to make this my favorite thug song ever...but I think Ill wait for #100 for that. Instead, this is my second favorite Thug song to date -- despite just leaking a few months ago. I got the song sent to me before all the leaks, and when I showed @WPG for the first time he said he was playing it @ his wedding (either this or Love Me Forever, I forget haha).

It's really that good. It's a trip to listen to how thug's mind works ("If you got aids I want, it if you got herpes I want it" >>>) and still, no matter how obscure some single lines might be, entire VERSES become quotable when he delivers them

"Pass the basketball Im a player, yeah
I love all of y'all like the Mayor, yeah" >>>

Really hope that entire album about his fiancee wasnt a lie. Thug on his romantic tip is one of the best artists alive.

My favorite part of the track is how he's still utterly true to his style ("new glock .45 i want it...that mmm mmm ah i want it" >>>>) but employs never before heard styles that sound like the b------ child Wayne, Kanye & Justin Vernon

The last 30 or so seconds of the track is up there as one of my favorite moments in rap this entire year, without a doubt. Might actually be my favorite.

6. Drawn Down



One of the leaks that seems 100% finished...and it's so god d--- good. From the mysteriously cryptic hook, that's smooth as h--- through and through, but morphs from stark clarity ("I kno how to go and get a mofuckin check, no flex, flawless and VVs all over my neck, and chest") to almost indecipherable and inexplicable understated euphoria -- if that even makes sense ("imma put a drawn down on all em," "p---- n----- you a rat, and I'm Tom," "no giraffes but thugga want nothing but neeeeck"). I'm learning a lot of what he's saying on the hook just now, while writing this and it's wild.

thugs always beyond at ease when putting hits on people smh. Aside from that, the writing on this track is Afucking1:

It's just an all round solid track that's probably somewhere in my top 15 for the leaks. Album quality material. The harmonizing in the background during the hook >>>

5. The Promise



In the same vein as yesterday, The Promise is yet ANOTHER somber, introspective, well, ballad. No hook. Just Thug pouring his heart out. With how many similar (conceptually) tracks there are in the leaks (my favorite one not even being mentioned yet), I cant help but wonder what the game plan was rolling these out. There was probably a whole marketing plan re: which songs came out when/how thug and his camp morph his public image, but welp, obviously they gotta start from scratch now...Luckily Thug is one of the most prolific artists alive and can recreate tracks of this quality literally in his sleep.

This track has him reciting the names of all his kids mid verse, without missing a beat, pleading his sexuality and love for his fiancee, etc.

Rather than talk more about it, Im just gonna quote my favorite parts. There's a reason people like me and WPG think he's one of the best writers in hip hop:

123. Hercules



No need for an explanation. Song speaks for it self, and I'm sure all of you know the backstory. What I will say though is that the 2nd verse absolutely crazy. If you're a Wayne fan (@Bleed @Slyk @JG2 etc), for 2 bars in the 2nd verse thug sounds the most like prime Wayne he's ever been. It's just two lines, but for two lines it sounds uncredited Wayne feature. Like Wayne skateboarded into the studio by accident and was like:

"And then some f--- n----- was hatin' on me
They took ya life and I know some f--- n----s waitin' on it
I grab that TEC, I grab that 40 and the F&N
Then we pulled up ready to squabble, yeah we waited on 'em"

the crazy thing is, the lines seem to be about Wayne if u ask me...and be alleged tour bus shooting. Idk man. Crazy.
