got swept as a 23 year old against another all time great, tim duncan

and leaving for miami, antics and drama aside, was the best thing he ever did for himself and the cleveland franchise. not everyone is lucky enough to come in to a situation where you get to be the 1B to shaq in his prime.

The Cavs have a really good roster bro, I'd argue that overall they might be as good or better than Kobe's were for his 4th & 5th rings.

I really understand Bron leaving CLE & MIA, but it still kinda puts an asterisk on his titles. There's something to be said for sticking with a team and having a contender built around you instead of hopping around and coming back only when the situation is perfect.

IMO if you swapped Bron for a 31 year old Kobe this series probably would've ended in 5-6 in Cleveland's favor.

LeBron was in the convo of being better than Kobe before this finals, and now he definitely is. The real actual question for years to come will be if LeBron is gonna go out better than Jordan and become the greatest player of all time. People are already doing it.

before lebron got there they were a lottery team despite all of the high draft picks :idk: that's pretty much an example there in a nut shell with how capable the cleveland franchise has been from a management perspective.

lebron won a title with a team he himself built, a mantra he himself instilled, and the example he himself set for his teammates.

not sure why you think a 31 year old kobe could do it in 5-6 when lebron might have had the most dominating performance in finals history, leading every player on the floor in every major statistical category. there is no asterisk on that imo.

honestly tho @Poohdini, it doesn't really matter what i think.

we can save the discussion for when lebron is retired (or at least washed), but i don't think anyone is putting kobe over lebron when all is said and done. he already has the resume and the hardware to win the debate now, and still has at least a half decade in him.

    Kobe wasn't a 1B.

We look at Kyrie's game 5 and think wow, he really stepped up when Bron needed him, but Kobe would routinely have handfuls of moments like that throughout each post season.

Him being paired up with Shaq from day 1 is a blessing & a curse. Kobe was a legit superstar at 20-21.
Before he came back Kyrie had just signed a max deal & they took Wiggins. Who's to say they couldn't have been the East's version of Portland with Kyrie/Wiggins leading the way?

I say Kobe could've finished it earlier because there were moments in the 1st 4 games that were screaming for the scoring take over's to close the deal, the type of thing we saw from Bron Game 5 and on. You don't have to put Kobe's back against the wall to get that out of him.

Kobe was as good as Shaq during their 2nd title and better than him every season after that.

He will go down as the most hated superstar of all time.

Would also probably have been to way more Finals if he'd spent his entire career playing in the East.

what's minnesota doing with wiggins and KAT, granted they're a rookie and a sophomore combo
what was kyrie doing pre-lebron? dude wasn't even showing up to practice on time before lebron brought over everything pat riley taught him in miami.

even if those two were to be an impactful duo in the league (and they're my 2nd and 3rd favourite players in the NBA, so I have no doubt they would), it wouldn't be for another few seasons.

the scoring was only part of it though, kyrie had big scoring games too but only a fraction of the impact. plays like that chase down on iggy and refusing to give GSW as much as a layup in the dying minutes are why lebron won that ship for cleveland.

idk man, i love kobe. i just think lebron is better.

that's true, but he beat the best team from the western conference three times in his career so if lebron was in the west his whole career, he might be 3-2 and not 3-4.

You're right, if you win it all you beat the West's best, but how many championship level teams is Bron beating in the East on his way to the Finals?

In a lot of post seasons Kobe goes through multiple ones. C-Webb led Kings, the Blazers, Duncan & the Spurs, Steve Nash & the Suns, KG & the Timberwolves, Tmac & Yao in Houston, Melo & AI in Denver, Dirk in Dallas, KD/Russ/Harden in OKC.

All Bron had was the Pistons early, Dwight in Orlando, the Celtics with Miami, and 1 showdown with the youngest MVP of all time (though this is Derrick's fault for not making it more of a rivalry.)

Bron will be top 5 sooner or later. Until he gets 5 he's always gonna be under Bean though.

Every time I think of Kobe's career, it pisses me off how the Lakers had such a sub par roster throughout most of the mid 2000's (04-07). Kobe dragged those Lakers teams to the playoffs. Even in 07, he carried them to the finals.

Yeah it's really a shame. All he needed was another all star and he'd probably have been to a few more Finals. Those teams had no business in the playoffs, let alone West Finals.

He's right. All season long I listened to Warriors "fans" talk about how GS was the greatest team of all time. Lol the 96 Bulls would sweep them. The Bad Boys Pistons would wreck them in 5. The Showtime Lakers would most likely beat them too.

But those 96 Bulls would sweep them no question about it. Jordan, Rodman, Pippen there's no way they would get punked out by these little dudes on the Warriors
