It's a pointless game why would you not pick your team

Edit: bet you were singing the same song last year before we went into foxborough and beat New England

I never pick against the 49ers or pick the cheathawks. But I'm doing so bad this year I need to stop picking with my heart.

@Boos and @Heisenberg let me first say that you guys have the right to pick however you'd like. if you want to pick your team every week or always pick against a rival, be my guest.

but the fact that you guys do this is INSANE to me. dude, the greatest thing about sports is that you play to WIN. its competition. which player is better than the other? which team is better than the other? which section 80 member can pick more games correctly?

not being able to set bias aside (because its your team) is silly. its like the equivalent of all of us getting together and playing a game of back-yard football and someone saying "it's a pointless game". i don't want people like that on my f---ing team.

haven't you guys ever heard the "you play to win the game" press conference/speech?

The reason I pick the Eagles is because when i dont pick them they seem to pull it off. Theyve beat the teams that they shouldn't have this season and lost some they should have. In my opinion its not insane to pick them. They arent a bad team. And not to mention the Seahawks havent been a dominant team this year. They did show up against the patriots but they need to be more consistant before I look at them as a team I'm picking every week.

    LOL.

There's no controlling this. This isn't anything close to sports, rather closer to gambling. You can't compare this to backyard football at all. Not even madden. I'm the most competitive person you'll ever meet, s--- I won't even come out at night after losing in a pick up game of basketball, but that's because I'm in control of the outcome and can pinpoint little things that lead to a win or a loss that I could have done differently. This is just plain luck.

you're the most competitive person i'll ever meet......yet your mindset is "it's a pointless game" LOL alrighty then.

you're right that when you play a game of pick up basketball or madden, you have much more control of the outcome. it's all in your hands. i follow that.

but picking NFL games isn't just "plain luck". having knowledge of the teams obviously increases your chances of picking more games correctly. for example, someone who watches the NFL knows that the browns have consistently been a poor team year in and year out. therefore, they probably aren't going to pick the browns (do you think a browns fan would pick the browns every week in a pick em league?) very often in a pick em league. poker isn't just plain luck, either. sure, there's more chance involved in a game of poker than playing a game of basketball against someone-------but its still not 100% luck.

plain luck is a lot more like winning the lottery. like i said, its not a big deal---i'm just more shocked that you guys pick that way. my mindset when i make picks is that i don't have a favorite NFL team

It may not be just "plain luck," but it's also far from being like a sport. I just don't view this as some competitive thing. I'd rather not have some conflict of interest when I'm rooting for the cowboys, giants, redskins, etc. to lose in real life, but "need" them to win in this. I'd rather the actual Eagles be in better position in real life, then me win this, so that's how I pick

First @TimmyT says that the Vikings are the best team in the NFC, now he's comparing picking NFL outcomes to participating in sports as a measurement of competitiveness.

Every part of me wants to switch my pick and roll with the Browns, but since nobody else picked them I'll just stick with the Steelers and either win with everybody or take the L with everybody. Also, not feeling great about the Dolphins or Bills pick, but last week I dropped two by last min switches. Not doing that today.

Lol, don't bother picking my Cleveland Browns. They're terrible and won't win a game.
