is it really that different from ray joining that superteam with the celtics then leaving for another superteam?

apart from him being more of a role player on the heat ofc

Yes. LeBron is literally the only thing Cleveland has/had. It was like losing their franchise. HUGE difference. I could go on and on.

I do. LeBron on the Heat would've never stood a chance against this GS dynasty that came out of nowhere. The only bad thing that came of him leaving was giving Bosh the max, but no one in a million years thought he'd have the career ending blood clots. We're bout to recover from that though. It also made it okay for Wade to leave, which saved us in the long run. He's gone and we're a lot better off because of it.

yeah but its still the same principle, its not like they drafted him or anything, he came in a trade with the sole intention of winning a championship, which he acheived. He didnt owe them any loyalty after that.

First of all, Ray Allen never signed as a FA in Boston. He was traded. He didn't "leave for a super team" until he came and joined the Heat. He saw that his career was coming to an end soon, and wanted to win one before he retired. He literally only played one season with the Heat and hasn't played since. He was done, and had one last run in him.

Cuz he won it all with them. They were a tight knit group. Him, Pierce, KG, Rondo. It hurt them all when he left. KG wouldn't even look at him. Then he left for the team that they couldn't beat, the Heat. Sounds a lot like the KD comparison redsoxxx made a page back actually lol.

i mean i guess, but they were a delclining team that had no realistic chance of actually beating the heat in the next year, whereas OKC was up 3-1 to arguably the best team in nba history and then choked and joined them in the next offseason.

my main point is that Ray Allen left after delivering a championship to a team he got traded to, whereas KD hung his team out to dry without bringing home a ring

Being a fan of a team that has never even sniffed a finals appearance i just find it disrespectful to boo a guy that helped bring the team to a championship. no matter how he left

Yep. And they both got their a----s boo'd lmao.

I understand though. I would probably be super bitter and a d-ck about Wade leaving if he wasn't my favorite player ever. I think it shows, or at least I look at it this way, the passion of the Boston fans when they act like that and boo former guys like Rondo or Allen.

Easy to look back in hindsight and say the C's couldn't compete with the Heat, but they were up 3-2 in the East finals and he left for less money over 3 years then the Celtics offered in 2. Lebron's biggest rivals by far were the 08-12' Celtics.

I don't really have hate for Ray any more but the year after he left I sure did. Just like when Damon went to the Yankees it was "f--- that guy".
