That's not what I said. I'm sure he wishes the Cavs were that dominant. I don't think he came back to CLE with the mind set that he was going to build a team that could rival the 90's Bulls. You really think if the warriors didn't have KD this would "certainly" be a Cavs repeat? That's the most absurd s--- I've heard all week. Curry is shooting 47% from the field rn. If he shot that well last finals instead of barely 40%, warriors would have won back to back championships.

I mean he went back and tried building the best team possible regardless of what GS had/didn't have. The team is full of HIS guys. He wanted Love. He pushed for JR & Shumpert. He decided Waiters wasn't good enough. He wanted Tristan (a guy who averages 8-9) to be re-upped for a near max. It was his best friend who negotiated TT & JR's ridiculous deals. He pushed to use absolutely useless roster spots on guys like James Jones, Dahanty Jones, and Birdman.

A lot of this goes back to what he did in 2011, it showed that you didn't have to wait around for a team to be built around you. KD to GS is just the next evolution of that. Both situations are unique and take a lot of variables to come to life, but it's not the last time it will happen.

For you guys still complaining about the move, if the Thunder lose to the Spurs last year and the Dubs go down in the Finals, KD to GS is all good?

yes, both of those things are true, and i realize those are big factors.

as i said, i still think the warriors' will win, but its worth noting that the cavs were in a very similar situation in last years finals after the first 2 games

No. He'd still be jumping on a 73 win team that had a historic season. I've never liked these formation of super teams. I didn't like it when Lebron went to the Heat or even when the Celtics did it before that. Like you said, what KD did was the next evolution of that. At least when Lebron left for the Heat he was going to a one-and-done playoff team. There was some uncertainty there. Some people thought it would take time before they could start winning championships (obvi it didn't). Even when he went back to the Cavs, there was uncertainty there as well. Would Kyrie be able to handle taking a back seat with Lebron coming back? Would they trade or keep Wiggins? When KD went to the Warriors, EVERYONE knew they would be unstoppable. There were no doubts as to whether they were going to get to the finals. We all held onto this slight hope that Cleveland could maybe beat them based on what they did last year but clearly this is not the same Warriors team with KD there.

As a fan of competition we can only hope. Durant will never lose the stink from this move and he shouldn't. I got my bitching out about it when it happened, now I'm just losing interest in the entire product.

Uncertainty of putting 3 All-NBA guys together? Of course they were going to win, it's irrelevant what they did the previous season. The Celtics won 24 games the year before getting KG & Ray Allen and won the title immediately. If LeBron didn't have a complete meltdown vs Dallas they would've won in 2011 as well. That loss had nothing to do with the way the team was put together.

There was more uncertainty with Cleveland sure, but you had a 22 year old budding star who weeks before LeBron returned, had just signed a max deal. The #1 draft pick, cap space and assets. He essentially got to mold the team to his liking and did exactly that, even picking up D Will & Korver for free this season.

A handful of rings will go a long way. At the end of the day that's all that matters, not the details around it.

Disagree the details around rings are often forgotten, not this time. Asterisk city.

Not forgotten, but they're less meaningful than actually winning it all.

If anything there's a bigger asterisk around Golden State's 1st championship than this potential one.

Dallas in 2011 and Detroit in 04 are really the only outliers as of late. Both teams were great but heavy underdogs.

I still think Bron is way more to blame for the crap product we have today than Durant. Bron didn't just start this stars planning to team up idea, he also (along with Pop) started this rest when fully healthy idea.

Both aren't necessarily a huge deal yet, but they'll just keep getting worse imo..

only way to change this is to add more teams or make the rookie deals longer

longer rookie deals would make it worse, imagine the next star coming in and being on a cap friendly deal. You'd be able to build a stacked team around him much easier.
