Ronaldo had a legendary performance where even the 12 times he touched the ball to either keep possession or create were all positive, even with limited touches he still influenced the scoreline against an incredible team. I cannot take anyone seriously if you can't even bow down and pay homage to something like that

Spanish FA put their egos over the NT, it was no problem when Van Gaal did it in the last one. Have no idea how the players will react to this.

Nearly all of the black players of the French national team were born in France. There are black people in France because of history yes. ..Don't see what it has to do with the world cup. They are french. They're french citizens so they play for france. Serena Williams represents the U.S in tennis because she's american. Literally what does it matter how our ancestors came? In national sport you represent the country you're a citizen of, not where your ancestors dating back centuries came from

Do you think these black french players came by boat recently from the migrant crisis? They weren't given citizenship because they're good athletes lol they were born there so they automatically get it

And finally, the French national football team is just a football team, it's not a government or a human rights commission. The job of any national sports team is to pick the best athletes of that nation...

Football was definitely less "developed" during Pele's time. You only have to watch the matches back then compared to now. That's not to say Pele isn't one of the greatest though. That's why he used to score so much. I'm sure if Ronaldo and Messi played back then they'd score silly amounts of goals too. But if you brought Pele to the present time, I don't think he'd stand out too much from the rest of the current day superstars or even be considered one of the best

I agree that europe is able to produce better players and teams now. The amount of funding and training in european football is just on a whole different level. I mean with Brazil specifically football is ingrained in their culture from birth and it always has been. Every kid in Brazil grows up playing even in dirt poor neighbourhoods. There's nothing else to do there. They don't rely on expensive training and coaching from a young age. Naturally this sort of environment will produce a steady flow of football geniuses like all the famous Brazilian players we know. And you can tell by the Brazilian style of playing that their skills are rooted in their culture and street football. And of course when you take these guys and train them in europe they become unstoppable. Training alone isn't all it's about but when you get guys naturally extremely talented people like Ronaldo and fund their training with unlimited money you'll have a f---ing machine.

As time goes on though with football in europe being a multi billion dollar business it will be increasingly more difficult for south american teams to win the world cup. Like germany and spain don't have these Ronaldo-Messi-esque superstars and they won the last two. Same goes for France and Croatia. I wouldn't really classify Mbappe as a freightrain monster like Ronaldo. Not yet anyway but he's usually more involved with the whole team

Exceptional performance by Croatia in this world cup. They made history and earned the respect of everybody.

20 years later, they have made it again. Congratulations to France. Well well deserved.

This was undoubtedly one of the best world cups. Plenty of surprises, Unpredictability and great moments.

Here's to another 4 years to come.

The penalty was deserved he literally slapped the ball down lol

Such a bizarre game. Croatia played better for the most part but in the end couldn’t score much. France rarely had chances and when they did they scored. So fair enough I guess

That Giroud guy shouldn’t have even been allowed to touch the cup

Idk about this whole controlling the tempo thing when neither team is gonna want the ball; Croatia knows how brutal France is on the break / isolation with Mbappe on the right wing. France did struggle against Belgium's high press, the weird thing is Croatia's high press is sloppy (its international football tbf) but it's worked so far, assuming France actually plays those line-breaking passes from deep it could get ugly.

It's a head scratcher since either team has certain individual mismatches--Mbappe vs Strinic, Mandzukic likely bullying Varane-Umtiti, Perisic looking to drag Pavard wide from France's compact shape...the most interesting is the midfield battle where Matuidi has had success locking down his flank but Croatia's midfield is a different Ice-cold entity, I see that as the biggest key duel there. Just some observations of course.

I mentioned it earlier but it was such a big gamble letting Croatia have those possessional stretches, Alli & Lingard stopped pressing the Croatian midfield and prayed for a error or loose ball. Too many times the play from the back was sloppy as well, especially after the equalizer when the midfield disappeared (had no idea where Henderson was in the 2nd half?). Sorry for the result tho fam.

You guys are too quick to jump to reactionary narratives, who knows what the f--- is gonna happen in this final.
