    If star-packed teams always won vs non star-packed teams, Portugal wouldn’t of won the euro cup in 2016. That’s what I love about this sport. You can have all the talent in the world but that doesn’t mean you’re winning anything.

    Ronaldo was a beast. Too many injury’s and a lifestyle that lead to a career that could be amazing but it wasn’t.

    Ronaldinho probably is best player I ever see with a ball. Such technique.

    Unfancied in 2002 & 94 believe it or not, qualification in 2002 was such a scare with Rivaldo torn between Barca and the national team and R9 still recovering from knee surgery, they weren't any good in 1990 either. Retrospect has been kind to that 02 team, the 4 R's :wow2:

    That's exactly my point, but Argentina is consistent with not winning and team like that should play way better.

    In terms of what exactly? I mean what about ronaldinho and fat ronaldo. You could say brazilian players have a shorter lifespan at the top but hey, Maradona wasn't exactly top level for 10 years was he.

    Anyways, I got Brazil winning the whole thing in my bracket. I’d be happy for Neymar if he got a World Cup.

    2002 was the weirdest tournament with so many upsets and blatant corruption. Italy-Korea was a disgrace, Turkey coming in with that super physical Galastasray spine destroyed so many bets

    Diego was exceptional from 78-90, I wonder what would have happened if he didn't get that viscous injury back in 84. After that of course the drug addictions & age caught up to him.

    The Brazilians were always a weird case, R9 was unstoppable until the double acl injury but readapted into an excellent poacher. Dinho & Romario stopped giving a s--- after they were on top lol but they were amazing

    I couldn't believe it, I can't understate how big that US win was over here. Those two years were awful to be Portuguese fans, then that loss to Greece still makes me laugh to this day

    Edit: Sorry if I'm going full football geek, this sport means more to me than y'all can imagine :mjcry:

    didn't the us make it out of the group in the 2014 at portugal's expense as well. US football was actually not half bad 4-6 years ago tbh.

    It's appreciated. I used to skip highschool to watch Champions league matches.

    Now i just watch it during my lectures lulul.

    That 2002 squad is always give as exemple to what can happen if you go full yourself to this type of tournament.


    And still hurts. Man the entire country was in beast mode and we got f----- by such s-----y team.

    Euro 2000 is still my favorite tournament to this day, the talent across the board was ridiculous. You guys had an amazing run, that comeback against England was crazy. I'm sure 2016 euros made up for it, a lesson to the youth that even players like Eder can be heroes
