Feb 5, 2020 But Biden is so charming and captures the hearts of working class whites and blacks and also Independents! They all resonate with his message!!!!
Feb 5, 2020 See this is what I was talking about when you were talking about Bernie bros being toxic. If you think I should have more faith in the process then explain to me why. I’m not being an a------ when I say I’m all ears. Because what I said just boils down to “I don’t know what’s happening but it seems strange” and I don’t think that’s that controversial or uncommon of a belief.
Feb 6, 2020 The energy and excitement is clearly behind Mr. Bernard Sanders. He continues to bring in new folks with his message of fighting for the working class and holding corporations accountable. This is what we need to beat Trump in November.
Feb 6, 2020 Pete 0.1% ahead of Bernie with 96% reporting...could go either way but it looks like they'll probably come out tied for delegates or maybe a difference of one between them. Seriously can't believe Joe is likely going to walk away from Iowa with 0 delegates though. He was projected to be neck and neck with Sanders for so long. FiveThirtyEight shows Sanders surging above Biden in SC but of course there's still three weeks until that primary and the Iowa projection got turned on its a--- so who knows: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2020-primary-forecast/south-carolina/
Feb 6, 2020 mannnn obviously it's too early to say this but I wouldn't be surprised if Biden is done. That is a massive massive underperformance in Iowa. I mean I know it wasn't necessarily going to be one of his strongest states but a fourth place finish is just unspeakably bad for a "frontrunner". Obviously we can't fully discount him until we see what happens in the next three contests, but his people have to be spooked. With Bloomberg somehow doing kinda well(?????), and problems with minorities complicating Mayor Pete's rise, and Klobuchar outperforming expectations, and Warren doing well enough to justify staying in, and the fringe folks (namely Yang and Gabbard) probably not leaving anytime soon, it's hard to imagine a more chaotic landscape! Still, you'd rather be Bernie than anyone else
Feb 6, 2020 Iowa was bad for Biden in terms of placement but the demographics there never really favored him or his base. He’s unlucky because NH isn’t a much more promising state for him either but if he can get better placement there then I think he’ll be ok. Another 4th or (nightmare scenario) 5th place finish & yeah....it’d look like the wheels are falling off. Sanders is def the front runner post Iowa.
Feb 6, 2020 Biden needs to finish strongly third, maybe second in Nh at least to resist this growing narrative I think. But I also think there’s opportunity for him to become underdog and exceed expectations, like McCain or Clinton’s comeback narratives. Maybe it won’t happen tho and the party will continue to severe lol
Feb 6, 2020 Yeah I saw people saying they thought Biden would fizzle out fast and I didn't believe it simply because he was polling so much stronger (like double second place) in so many states. But I think it's plausible now. As for Bloomberg, I guess his strategy of spending $100 million a month or whatever to Clockwork Orange ads into cable subscribers' brains is paying off? lol
Feb 6, 2020 I was looking through some threads on twitter and for the first time saw people showing legitimate support for Bloomberg. It seems like some Biden supporters think he's the only chance to defeat Bernie if Biden fails and others think he's a good pick just because he has billions of dollars at his disposal to defeat Trump. Obviously a few twitter threads doesn't represent the whole base, but it was interesting to see why a handful of people are considering him cuz I'd never talked to someone who supports him.
Feb 7, 2020 What are your thoughts on Pete’s campaign giving $40,000 to the Shadow app that was used in the Iowa caucus and former Hillary staffers being behind the app? Thoughts on the slow rollout of the votes, making Pete look like the winner when he is actually way behind in the popular vote? Thoughts on the media propping Pete up all week and downplaying Bernie? And why were Bernie’s votes somehow going to Steyer and Patrick? Those votes have gone back to Bernie since it has been corrected. Outlets have reported more discrepancies in the votes. Looks like the machine has been behind Pete all along. Bernie’s internal numbers show him with a 5 point lead. We’ll see if these discrepancies are even addressed with the recanvass/recount. All seems sketchy, doesn’t it @Papa Alpha Andy
Feb 7, 2020 It makes me nervous that Pete got such a big bump. That dude has serious psychopath energy, I saw in a profile of him that he apparently has a framed resource/mineral map of Afghanistan in his house lol.
Feb 9, 2020 @Papa Alpha Andy you're probably my favorite poster and I love you bro but JFC come get your man
Feb 10, 2020 OK honestly: I don't get the outrage over moments like this. Biden's bread and butter are these one on one interactions and, by and large, they're the soul of his campaign (or whatever.) Its a candidacy defined by his empathy. Now, people - both on the Bernie and MAGA side - try to play gotcha, and embarrass him. If he just took it and rose above it, he'd be characterized as even more milquetoast/wimpy. In a vacuum he does look mean...... or something, but I guarantee, out of all the interactions he does consistently, it pales you know? like, it's a double standard. We [collective] love the show when guys like Trump and to a lesser extent progressives bully and demean opponents. Biden defends himself from (mostly) trolls, and it feeds into this assumption/narrative others already have. d---ed if u do etc.
