    I'm with @Captain Awesome AKA Papa - back in December, when Trump called for $2,000 checks, so did Biden. We then got $600 checks. I don't think it's mealy-mouthed or weak at all to assume that Biden would then push for the rest of the $2,000 that we didn't get? In fact it feels like the most logical conclusion...?

    btw I say this as someone who would fully embrace $2,000 checks rather than $1,400. And I mean, let's be real - if anyone is drawing a line in the sand somewhere between $1,400 and $2,000 it's probably a different Joe (Manchin)....you paid lip service to the thin Senate majority, @WPG, but that isn't some minor wrinkle...it's the difference between a bill signed into law and a cute idea

    But I think Andy's point about the left getting caught up in relatively minor details isn't untrue. This is a bill that will double the minimum wage, provide the money to states that Rs have been blocking, expand leave, boost unemployment benefits, give a whole bunch of money to schools, expand testing and vaccination in a major way. That isn't to say the bill couldn't be improved and should be immune to criticism! But the sharpness of the backlash.....does not feel proportional. This seems like an early, obvious example of how nothing will ever be enough for certain corners of the party

    Biden wanting to make cannabis schedule 2 is a joke. Cannabis doesn’t belong in schedule 2 with drugs like vicodin, oxy, methadone, and f---ing fentanyl. Not to mention that schedule 2 would put cannabis into the hands of the FDA, and give big pharma an easy way to swoop in. Descheduling is what needs to happen, not rescheduling.

    Although his commerce-secretary pick is pro-legalization, she is also a big proponent of government-run cannabis stores. Poorly operated government-stores that would likely overcharge for bad quality products would only boost the black market.

    Wanting to legalize medical-cannabis and allow the VA to recommend it is a great plan though. I don’t hate Biden’s cannabis plans, I just think they are half a---. Hopefully he can be talked into signing the MORE Act when it passes.

    It’s cute that Republicans pick and choose when they want to defend freedom of speech/expression when it suits their narrative. I thought private companies can do what they want? Also, inciting a riot in DC, that led to a ton of property damage and deaths, is a felony. Felonies are not covered by Freedom of Speech. I thought Cheeto was the “Law & Order” president, he should have known that.

    When I was first taking US History in middle school they taught the concept of Manifest Destiny like it was justified/the correct way of thinking. They also taught us that the Black Panthers were just "the black version of the KKK." In 1st grade I thought that all black people celebrated Kwanzaa due to the way they taught us about it in school.

    ...and this was in Seattle. I can only imagine what they taught kids in Alabama 20 years ago. I hope public school has progressed some since then lol.

    I’m not watching your Jared Leto webcast or whatever, polls were not off by as much as you’re suggesting. Biden was expected to win by like 7 points, he won by 4.5. That’s an error but not an earth shattering one. Trump’s strength in FL (and for that matter, OH and maybe IA) was surprising, but not much else. You mock 538, but I believe they correctly predicted something like 48 of the 50 states. Your predictions would have been much worse
