I agree with the premise here - I guess my argument is there is still potential for even worse to happen via Trumpism and we are actively feeling the effects of Reaganism in areas such as private prisons, police brutality and income inequality. and yes the middle east is still paying due to Bush but like nobody is actively trying to continue his foreign policy.

Reagan's deliberate ignoring of the AIDs epidemic (obvious parallel to Trump and COVID19), getting rid of the fairness doctrine that leads directly to all these Republicans living in a fantasy world at the moment... his charlatan pact with the "Moral Majority" that basically turned Christianity from the light to the dark for political power and capital gain, going backwards on renewable energy for a dependance on Middle East oil (both a slap in the face to Jimmy Carter a truly faithful and good Christian who put solar panels on the White House in the 70s only for Reagan to remove them). dangerous military back deals that led to millions of deaths in the Mid East and South America (which lead directly to Saddam's powerful regime and 9/11)... his saber rattling against the USSR that put the world in danger of extinction each and everyday of his Presidency, his rhetoric against Democrats and Labor Unions that still find to be completely unamerican to this day... really I could list s--- forever.

Sure, which is why the apolitical crowd really determine the perception of the president.

The perception of Bill Clinton has gone down a lot since Hillary's run - it may seem crazy now, but back in 2010/2011 Bill Clinton was considered Lincoln/JFK level by nearly all liberals and a decent portion of conservatives.

Bush pretending to look for WMDs around the White House in a film short at the correspondents dinner was an all time low for the American Presidency.

Clinton and Carter suffer from a billion dollar unchecked disinformation campaign against them... Obams too.

yeah, Carter was elected at the worst time possible. no president comes out of that term well. Clinton became the bogeyman to conservatives partly because he was so effectual at crossing the aisle. Obama, well obvious, unfortunate reasons for him to be public enemy number one.

Doubling back to Clinton, they really hated him because he was moderate enough to get things done. Post-Reagan the conservatives had accomplished all of their policy goals and had no new avenues to explore so they decided their number one goal would be to oppose Democrats accomplishing anything.

Bush benefits because Republicans all chose to have amnesia that spans from 2001 to 2008 starting in 2016... I would listen to Republican Talk Radio host that basically blamed the Iraq War on Hillary Clinton and Hillary Clinton alone as the Junior Senator from New York State at the time... conveniently forgetting that they called anyone who didn't support it from 2003 to 2009 "Un-American, Unpatriotic, terrorist sympathizers and communist."

The people who hate Colin Kaepernick and activist athletes so much don't realize are ignorant to many points... some are Joe Montana, Dan Marino and John Elway never stood for National Anthem on the sidelines.... in fact no NFL player stood for National Anthem on the sidelines during the Modern Era stood for the Anthem on the Sideline until Obama was President... it shouldn't even be considered a tradition at this point.

Many athletes, including the GOAT Larry Bird refused to meet Reagan in the White House after their championships... and Larry said it was specifically because he felt he was a racist.

There is really no logical way you say you admire Mahmoud Ali and have a problem with Kaepernick's protest... something Trump does (he has the most paradoxical thinking of anyone I have ever observed).

if you’re speaking strictly in terms of american political ideologies, sure, but tell this to the—what? two million?—people who have died in the war on terror

I’m not defending Bush I’m just saying he has less potential for lasting impact than Reagan or Trump

Policy wise... Clinton/Gore were the best we as Americans could have hoped for in 90s... anyone my age owes them a debt of gratitude.
Clinton had to get his d-ck wet... which Republicans hate him for and worship Trump for... their moral failings or exactly the same... it's a partisan polygraph to be against one and not the other.

    again,
it’s obviously impossible to overstate the evil of reagan directly and policies clung to in his image, but, again, millions of people dying in forever wars that have ravaged a whole region—to say nothing of the torture program, illegal renditions, domestic spying—is certainly a “lasting impact.”
