Democrats have won 3 out of the 4 past presidential elections; and 4 of the last 8 elections if you include midterms, all while suffering disadvantages from the electoral college & the senate. They are a very electorally successful political party. The reason they don't adhere to your policy preferences is because they are not a socialist party; & if they did, it would make them *less* electable, not more lol.

Donald Trump literally tried to coup the U.S. government. Democrats calling him (& his supporters/enablers among elected Republicans) threats to democracy isn't a "con." It's calling a spade, a spade.

It’s a fools errand to analyse which policies are popular with the American people when the corporate media acts in lockstep with the duopoly. If organic ideas were fed into the public sphere & debated with a wide range of scope rather than in the limited framework of what’s ideological acceptable to the oligarchy then you could quantify that more accurately. But the US government is controlled by capital (private hands,) whereas the public are merely limited to the spectacle after all the political power has been bought out & predetermined before they even touch a ballot paper.

But even if we entertain this notion, 24% of the US population voted for the current party in power. & how many of those voted for the Democrats merely to “keep Trump out” or “voting blue because I always have” like a team-sport, instead of actually supporting their policies? Doesn’t sound very popular either way.

Not to mention that these 2 “choices” are always entirely the result of capital as well, calling this a democracy at all is silly as f---. The word has no meaning

Having this be the standard for a democracy & chasing it is a fools errand. It’ll never be attainable.

Large portions of the voting populace will always be unengaged in politics, uneducated, & use heuristics (or short-cuts) to dictate their vote choice. People are group oriented. Partisanship, ethnic/racial group identity, religion, etc. will always play huge roles in people’s political behaviors.

Indeed - take the polls that suggest that Americans aren't that opposed to a normal healthcare system … as long they see the idea presented in a vacuum and not connected to a party. But how does this finding actually help to get s--- passed? f---ing Jesus could come back to life, campaign for single payer healthcare, even get decent amount of air play in the corporate media given his brand - and a huge share of voters still would go "We don't want none of this socialist s---, go back to Mexico.". There is no realistic way to change dozens of millions people's core beliefs in a reasonable time frame. And sure, their beliefs were molded by corporate media, so they aren't organic but practically it makes no difference. Gotta work with what you have and not what should/could be. Or you can just resign because the game is rigged but then the people rigging it will have an even easier time to get what they want instead of you having a chance of claw back a lil bit of power from them.

Popular enough to get in power, which is the bit that matters when you want to shape policies. They choose to stay at home the previous election instead of voting for Shillary and had the guy that wants to make everything way worse shape policy and almost coup the country.

Private capital tends to become concentrated in few hands, partly because of competition among the capitalists, and partly because technological development and the increasing division of labor encourage the formation of larger units of production at the expense of the smaller ones.

The result of these developments is an oligarchy of private capital; the enormous power of which cannot be effectively checked even by a democratically organized political society. This is true since the members of legislative bodies are selected by political parties, largely financed or otherwise influenced by private capitalists who, for all practical purposes, separate the electorate from the legislature. The consequence is that the representatives of the people do not in fact sufficiently protect the interests of the underprivileged sections of the population.

Moreover, under existing conditions, private capitalists inevitably control, directly or indirectly, the main sources of information (press, radio, education). It is thus extremely difficult, and indeed in most cases quite impossible, for the individual citizen to come to objective conclusions and to make intelligent use of his political rights

I don't know how Kamala Harris compares to the Bush43 administration... but I do know that the only reason Tim Walz went into politics was to oppose the Bush43 Administration.

I think both would be surprised that anyone makes the comparison.

This is what the Democrats are doing to your daughters. Anyone with a daughter should be very, very afraid if Cam-ala wins.

I wish we had a choice of someone like Trump to vote for over here in the Uk. Nigel Farage is perfect for our current climate but I cant see Reform ever winning a majority unfortunately.

Labour have already started the motions of trying to water down the discipline in our schools. Very dark days ahead.
