    Got you. And I'm with you in that most adults do/should aim to own things. My problem with some of the left is their generalized "privilege" rhetoric which is bs and that's what I thought you were referencing.

    Nope trust me, I’m on calls all day with executives talking about how diversity requirements are being built into job descriptions. Like oooo cool guess I can’t work for u ? I get it, especially right now, but does make me wonder about my long term job prospects ngl lol

    Yikes at how I spelled privilege. I need to be more careful on my phone outside of the Eminem section. But yeah I'm not saying white privilege doesn't exist Im just saying if it does my white privilege card must have got lost in the mail as a child.

    he left office last year w 53 percent approval among republicans. plenty of republicans find trump distasteful on a surface level.

    But would you agree there is a very large and loud portion of the left that thinks being white= cake walk. IMO privliege is entirely a socioeconomic thing and has zero to do with race.

    Sure, I think the term is widely misused and misunderstood. Black dis-privilege would be more apt but is a tongue garble.

    But you are also touching on it right there, in America the average black person is at a socioeconomic disadvantage vs the average white person. In general I think the term white privilege only makes sense when talking about groups of people not specific people

    it’s tricky because race has historically disadvantaged (“disadvantaged”) people and continues to disadvantage them today, but that divide is also used as a wedge by the upper class. challenge for this century is to work to combat racial inequality while creating transracial class solidarity.

    I don't think it has zero to do with race—more that racism is a pillar of the socioeconomic structure but at the end of the day class trumps all. I honestly don't think most libs think about the white privilege thing beyond "saying this makes me progressive" which is almost worse lol. It's how we get these idiots on twitter trying to be so careful about race and seem so progressive that some of the things they say basically amounts to "segregation, but woke."

    But yeah I mean I literally had someone say to me "you're a white male what do you have to go to therapy about" and it's like um probably in part because of those kinds of assumptions that encourage men to be emotional brick walls and bottle up their feelings. whateva happened to gary cooper! the strong silent type!
