Sep 2, 2018 Because listening patterns (day of week distribution %) is very consistent across albums at a Marco level for all artists and genres. Example, if they know historically there is usually a 10% drop day 2, 5% drop day 3 etc, they can use one or two days of data to figure it out....same with movies. I know this because I forecast for a living. Anyway, it could come in above if reception stays strong or vice versa. Historical data is used to answer your q tho. The news saying 200k is based on Spotify data only. I think we'll see 300k-ish with Apple data folded in. If we assume 2M less listens a day for Spotify only (making up the 2M), that is already 160k. Apple isn't quite as big as Spotify , but they could add another 120-140k....that is almost 300k minimum. I'm curious if they considered the long weekend as part of the projections though, that will help.
