I don't call you "Narsh" ‘grievances’ like “He said his daughter got a brand-new sports car” aim to be ironically pitiful, but just come off as corny and melodramatic. taken in isolation, the hook is great like I said but I can't help rolling my eyes when it comes on after that first verse another problem I have is that the rhymes are overly simplistic - laughably so - and the delivery is pretty weak overall
Oct 25, 2015 how "simple" or "complex" a rhyme is dont determine how good a verse is. how well the verse suits the songs at hand, how well it fits the concept, and executes the premise, is what matters. and in that case, both verse did a great job. its meant to be minimal, almost like hes at loss for words. and i know you can try to make the "melodramatic" argument..but thats the whole point of the song -- him expressing what are "heartbreaks" to a guy like him. not for us, or anyone else. he wants kids, he doesnt have kids. he wants to be there for his family, he cant be there for his family. its that simple. and thats why it works.
