May 20, 2015 I'm anticipating this being the best rap album of the year so far. LSD just helped support my gut feeling.
May 20, 2015 I agree, I told @Kvp187 the same thing, but I was only half serious when I said it. I'm not as high on TPAB as the rest of this site (GKMC is A LOT better), and I think creatively, he'll top Drake's VFT6 pretty easily. Kanye is the only question mark imo. I hate to keep the AOTY conversation between mainstream artists, but you get what I mean.
May 20, 2015 It will easily top TPAB in the long run for me personally. As much as I loved it when it came out, it just doesn't have that much replay value. It's far too long and bloated, and only about half the songs stuck with me at this point (a real lesson in criticism for someone who gave it a 9.2, hah). The first few times you listen to it, it's an amazing album, but once you unpack the whole thing it becomes a little less rewarding each time. There are still some amazing songs on there (hood politics, u, wesley's theory, institutionalized), but I'm a person who listens to full albums 90% of the time and I can't be bothered to slog through the fat when I could pop in section80 and like every song. A$AP's had some misfires (Wild for the Night is the worst song of all time, about half of Long.Live.A$AP isn't very good imo), but his good music has always had very strong replay value for me. Goldie sits comfortably in my top 25 most played. I think he realized that trying (and failing) to recreate his mixtape with his debut didn't work at all, which is why he's been relatively quiet other than a few features the past 2.5 years. I'm really impressed because two years ago I never would have thought A$AP would make something like LSD. I expected him to be pretty formulaic for the remainder of his career, but I think this s--- is gonna be his best work yet.
May 20, 2015 thank you, I was hoping people would realize this lol I've still got a review sitting on my laptop for it, maybe I'll finally get around to posting it
May 20, 2015 You should def post it...@koolo's got a nice idea that involves user reviews so I'll tag him here. But yeah, I'm man enough to admit I was wrong about it. It honestly really surprised me because I legitimately thought it would be a very enduring album in the long run—some of the songs still are for me, but the whole is less than the sum of its parts.
May 20, 2015 lmao i swear i came in here to claim its literally the greatest song of all time very excited now for this album, at first i was chilling waiting patiently. I want this asap
May 20, 2015 I'm expecting a full blown verse about Yams maybe song unless one of the leaked songs already spilled that. Ima hold out from hearing anything else (or replaying lsd) until the album drops
May 21, 2015 I think these people who are saying this will be better than tpab are going a little too far....
