But I'm not joking, or like kinda. the police investigation thing is a joke, but it's a good analogy of Thug and his appeal i beleive. (coming from the guy who hated him, to now liking some songs, but not a huge fan - I still recognize him as a superior lyricist pretty much for the reason i posted above)

I don't understand any of you. Just googled the lyrics to the first song @Soldier posted and this is one of the first lines of the song...
When my diamonds speak, they say "bling"

@Narsh does this come under "imaginative lyricism" then?

I swear if anyone else said that they'd be crucified... why the f--- does it work for young thug?

I actually don't see many lines as bad... I'm not picky at all. It just makes zero sense as to why you'd frame this line as imaginative or some s--- because thug wrote it... like he's some genius that knows exactly what he's doing.

I don't know the song in question. But to me that line means something like; His diamonds speak to other people. Like just by wearing that stuff, people can look and see he's successful in someway. the diamonds "talk" in the sense that Thug doesn't need to say "im successful" because his diamonds do it for him.

thug inhabits a universe of his own. he already has a song where he's literally personified his yellow diamonds as Pikachu lol, so someone who's familiar with his material wouldn't bat an eye at "when my diamonds speak they say "bling"." as ive said, its context. and its also not as bad as you're making it seem lol. its like the same thing as someone saying a flashy outfit is "loud." thugs diamonds are so flashy they literally say "bling" -- its nothing to nitpick. and the song isn't a punchline driven song to begin with...? im having trouble understanding your issue.

yes, this is an example of imaginative lyricism. its not the best example, but when you have 800 songs picking a line from random hooks isnt the way to go about analyzing someone's writing style.

and its part of a larger hook any ways. "a young n----- life is a dream/we aint let no hoes get in between/when my diamonds speak they say bling/yellow diamonds, no crime scenes" -- im having trouble figuring out how the hook fails because of that line

you're creating hypothetical situations to try and reason this out. thats not gonna work. if you have specific examples, feel free to ask though.

    ya

on OD, another song Soldier posted, after shouting out all his family members, thug pens:

"I take of my kids, no matter what else I do
    Rocko I do, I do
Yeah and that's to God that it's true
My n----s they was some clothes bandits
Now they dealin' with bad b------s and they know they happy
And they show they have it, b---- we photograph it"

it's the same mentality of letting your riches speak for you because of your less than ideal upbringing

I quite like Thug but some of his fans remind me of English teachers that see see more in a book the class is studying than the actual author.

Herbo has been stupid consistent, his future is looking bright

If he drops a good single he might end up doing Kevin Gates numbers with the next album

And on topic, I found Views quite boring and average and have no real intention to revisit it. Tried to get through it about four times but can't really.
