    Now to be totally fair, 500 words is longer than a lot of sites run in full. But yes, @Koolo should be giving me a traffic bonus for my threads this week.
    @Mike Tyson do you remember where I reviewed it? I literally can't recall :'(
    Well in Narsh/Thug's defense, it's not a friend locked up, it's a rival g--- leader who was killed. I would argue that that gives it some unique context, though I wouldn't go as far as Simha does. To me, the "verse of the year" is certainly Chance.

    Interesting. So why do you believe Chance will never top Acid Rap?

    Not that I disagree with you. I'm not a fan of this uplifting/social savior thing he's been going for lately. (I know he did a bit of that on AR, but that project seemed to be more fun as a whole than anything he's done since)

    i like this one, do more of these and less of the "haha f--- narsh" ones :emoji_thumbsup:
    I say it's verse of the year because it uses Troups death to spark a train of thought that has him defending roscoe's imprisonment while embracing his own freedom (to take care of his kids, f--- twins, what have you). A lot of ground his covered.

    Besides the narrative, thug also just does so much with his voice in those 16 or so bars...chance is in my top 5 probably but man nothing else has made me run back a verse like thug saying "lil roscoe he sleep where it's nasty" or "got a camera from the club and that's all they had"

    I just think he's had so much success straying away from what made half of Acid Rap great that he has no incentive to keep his music grounded.

    @Sahara etc:

    I'm glancing through the list that had the Herb review Soldier wanted, and I wrote about Thug's three albums from last year (Barter 6 and the first two Slime Seasons), which collectively were our #2 album of the year. Some of what I wrote is just context, but this middle portion speaks to some of the things I find so intriguing about him as an artist:

    Why do you defend these ADD verses, talking about f---ing twins is a reflection on his freedom.

    He's not a focused writer at this point in his career and it's weird reading your train of thought defending it in your head.

    King Troup is a 10/10 song but like, writing on s--- like My Savages is compelling. This isn't.

    And verse of the year is a huge accolade too. Pt 2 verse by Kanye > this.
