Narsh is a goof on the forum but if you compare what he's written to what I've written it's not even close, thanks for the kind words tho.

Eh I think you're focusing too much on the narrative aspect. Like Thug doesn't hold down a train of thought for too long, but that doesn't make what he says in the moment any less valid. I think it's just part of Thug's trade-off, I'd much rather have spontaneous insanity interweaved with a few surprisingly poignant insights than a more traditional and rigid structure.

    Edit: double post mb

That's all good, but listen to King Troup and then listen to My Savages, and you tell me which is the better written song.

What you described is certainly the charm with Young Thug, but an ADD verse about a "thought train" isn't VERSE OF THE YEAR.

Dead a---, that s--- is stupid to say fam.

no, bc he's a plagiarist fraud who wont engage in honest debate. see how he dodges me. bc he knows i expose him for what he is.

he may try more than you, but that's different. we're enabling him far too much. paul and @BigCountry the prime culprits

I mean if the train of thought was really concise, and the delivery was prime Thug, it COULD happen. But yeah, Troup definitely isn't verse of the year #justnarshthings

I think Has is just trying to rile up Narsh, but if he isn't then that's a very narrow conception of how verses should be written tbh. Are we gonna say Ghostface was an "unfocused writer"?

no, i honestly don't have a definitive concept of how a verse should be written. chance's verse of the year could be read as a verse about nothing, but there are intangibles that make it great.

but we're talking about verse of the year. and given that he's such a fan, it's easy for him to hand out that distinction to his favourite young thug song of the year, and that's exactly what happened here.

side question: when comparing future and young thug, would you agree that future is a far superior song writer

"intangibles that make chances verse great"

yeah yet thug having arguably his best vocal performance of the year on king troups's first verse means nothing huh?

and this is ignoring all your nonsense about the verse been ADD. thugs writing can and has been disjointed but the first verse of king troup isnt.

See, to me, your second sentence kind of trumps your first--chance's verse is only a "verse about nothing" in the strictest, most formalist sense of what it means to be "about" something. It's not a straight narrative but isn't every line basically a variation on the same theme?
Okay, fair, but don't you think this is a little prescriptivist in and of itself? I mean, what's "Live at the BBQ" about?
Again, I have no problem with you prodding Narsh for picking that--he's gone from talking a lot about Young Thug to talking almost exclusively about Young Thug. I'm just not sure your specific gripes with King Troup hold water.
Uh...not really. Future has shown a much wider range as a songwriter in the past, but since 56 Nights he's been really trending toward the same template on every beat. By contrast, I think SS3 are all pretty tight potential pop hits, I'm Up is really varied, and, well, Texas Love.

king troup isnt my favorite thug song of the year

and after texas love im not sure its even the best

his first verse is still his best verse of the year though.
lmao you keep repeating "we're talking about verse of the year man!!" as if Thug talking about taking care of his kids with a passion and breaking down over the decade long imprisonment of his friend isnt VOTY worthy

    foh
