The thing is, he's not just an entertainer but a wordsmith as well. And he takes this art of playing with words quite seriously. That's why his songs have been a hit or miss sonically for a while now. However, for the most part on this album (unlike Revival), he's managed to be sonically good while being technically proficient as well. So while you don't dig the technical aspects of a song, many do, and that makes the song subjectively better for them. A song doesn't get better by just the beat or delivery of words, but by what's being said and intricate wordplays and entendre as well.

I disagree. Wordplay and entendres are literally something you can make out when you hear the music, the exact example I said added nothing of importance to the song. It is something that you otherwise would have never known was there unless you looked down the first column of letters of the lyrics. Wordplay and entendres are super important when making a certain sub genre of rap music. Spelling out “I GOAT” down the side of the lyrics is cool, but doesn’t add anything to the music. Whereas, wordplay, metaphors, entendres, etc. do and can be heard. After all, it’s music, not a crossword puzzle.

Hahaha. I really don't think he cares anymore. He just enjoys creating music. He could give a f--- less about sales, just being respected. It's seems almost as if he's just creating whatever the f--- he wants, hence the Marshall Bruce Mathers III as part of the label it was released under. Which is kind of exciting because maybe that means he'll just release whenever he feels like it now, instead of waiting for stupid a--- label promotion schedules, that he no longer needs anyways.
