That argument doesn't work. Do you really think if he released TES nowadays it would be hated? Not a slightest chance.

I judged it from the track list and you’re guys’ reactions. I just made it to the public library where I can stream music and it’s def Revival 2 and I love it.

His most creative album in over a decade

    incredible production

    other worldly hooks

Underrated performance/delivery (seriously, the comedic timing and inflections are probably the best I’ve ever heard from him)

Sub par rapping. He catches good cadences and gets lost on so many of these songs flow/content wise. One line he goes “why would i diss someone who cant flow on the drum and the snare” ... while he spent half that song rapping off beat and doubletiming to catch up to the drum and the snare...

He has to stop the doubletiming. It deprives his lyrics of any substance and the puns and metaphors were extremely dull for his standards. You cannot doubletime, go off beat, and not be clever. Say what you will about Relapse, the flow was there. Say what you will about Recovery, the content was there. Say what you will about MMLP2, the Technical writing there was phenomenal. The writing here pales in comparison.

Still, I admire the creativity and masterful production, hooks, delivery/performance. Darkness is a top 10, even top 5 song in his catalogue. Blew me away. Hopefully this project as a whole grows on me. Just too much white noise, lyrically.

Good choice. This album is beyond trash. Better than MMLP2 (which isn’t saying much) but way worse than Revival.

At least a handful of overt and subliminal Budden disses throughout the album.

The ultimate f--- you to Budden is featuring the rest of Slaughterhouse on I Will.

My point is a lot of the criticism Em gets is dumb. Revival no doubt s----d and was a joke of an album and it deserved the criticism. But many of the people who hated Revival hated Kamikaze. I mean come on lol. Its like no matter what Em does its not good enough for them.

People expect something more from the guy that made those first three albums. At least the guy needs to commit all the way to the concept instead of ruining it by including tracks like Normal, Good Guy, Bad Guy on Kamikaze for example.

Where does he find these scrub featureslike Tom Oliver and Juice World? Never heard of these guys. He needs to go back to recovery days and get people like Kobe Bryant back on his tracks.

I totally get that. But the guy is almost 50 years old. The music hes putting out is some of the best hes done in a long time. A lot of the hate he gets is unreasonable, IMO. I mean some people will literally hear one line then say the song sucks because of literally one line lol.

The double meanings are nice on Never Love Again.

"I've got you totally open as soon as I got your top off"

    So simple but so good.

Better than I expected. Good for Eminem in 2020. Happy he's still making music.

    Spatula Relapse is a masterpiece

    Jan 17, 2020
God d--- it, I tried all day to get into this album but it just does nothing for me. It's not that it's bad, but there's not a lot to enjoy here. The wordplay is downplayed and there's even a lot of them reused from other verses or freestyles, there's nothing really hooking me in. Right now I feel like Revival is a lot better album. There are 10 songs on Revival which are either great or decent, but I can't count anything here. Even the ones that are hard hitting I have no desire to go back and listen. f---. I really wanted to like this and it was a wonderful surprise this morning, but I think I might entirely forget about this album.

Relapse still the best album. This might actually be at the bottom of the list of Eminem albums for me. f---.

The bombing is the only thing used from a freestyle? And you know how many artist do this? If your trying to find something wrong eventually you will. Enjoy it before he’s done for good

Album is undeniably cluttered with quite a few fillers but there’s no real extremely cringy low points in here (maybe Those Kinda Nights?) which is a big plus for an Eminem project of this length. Again, I really liked that he tried to do a concept album of sorts. The whole concept of “music to be murdered by” & then making songs detailing various “murders” both literally & figuratively in terms of rap music i thought was interesting. High point for me has to be “Darkness.” That sample, hook, his 1st person narrative of the Las Vegas shooter fit together great. I wish he would have been more creative like that on the later half of the album instead of making the same old song about a woman or his dad that we’ve heard 10000x times. Nonetheless, not a bad effort by modern Eminem standards.
