Aug 4, 2021 Honestly man it's an album that needs to be appreciated front to back. The songs compliment each other. I'm about 5 or 6 spins in so far and I couldn't tell you a track that's "better" than another.
Aug 7, 2021 Thoughts? I personally never fully watched a Anthony Fantano review but maybe some of you have more clue of how valid his opinions are lol
Aug 7, 2021 Why are the attacking him just because of a review? He liked a lot of tde projects in the past gave tpab a 10 etc. and now you use the black card against him because of a review? Thats weak fam
Aug 7, 2021 Fantano has never really gravitated towards Zay's music. I guess the team are a bit sensitive as a result because outside of the positive feedback from the majority of critics, Fantano's review is mainly mixed/negative. Plus there's his reputation of being a s--- hip-hop reviewer but still has a lot of sway and influence on listeners. Guess Zay and Punch have time today.
Aug 7, 2021 I understand Zay being more upset than punch cause if you think about it this album is being received super well and this was the product of a lot of personal struggle so if someone comes at the music it might be difficult to separate the music from the s--- you went through while making/writing it These are all assumptions on my part though so I could be wrong
Aug 7, 2021 Either way, it's always good to see Melon get put in his place. Also, From The Garden video coming out soon!
Aug 7, 2021 This is such a f---ing great return for Zay. wasn't sure what to expect when the singles dropped but Lay Wit Ya and Headshots are right up with my favorite songs of the year. TThe whole album is so beautifully cohesive and hazy like his previous 2 but somehow he sounds slightly more enegrized, refuelled after such a long hiatus. RIP Young, From the Garden, Score, Chad, True Story and the last 2 songs are all such huge highlights. Havent stopped hitting repeat since it dropped
Aug 7, 2021 For once I agree with Fontano. Album really isn’t that good. Pulling the race card is so 2021 as well. #PCPrincipal
Aug 7, 2021 Sorry guys I am not able to understand his music because I am white. Thats why I only listen to caucasian music like kendrick lamar
Aug 7, 2021 Is this worth checking out? That Nas and eminem track was complete dogshit so I really don’t wanna listen to more of the same dust rap. Is this gonna be similar?
Aug 7, 2021 This is an EXTREMELY chill album so if you're cool with vibey music i'd check it out However if you've never listened to Isaiah before I would listen to his other albums first @Ordinary Joel Do you agree with my take?
Aug 7, 2021 fuuck I just remembered i've heard exactly one isaiah rashad track called tity and dolla. It was pretty chill so yea i'll def check this out then.
Aug 7, 2021 While I think Fantano is a pretty good reviewer most of the time, he has a really specific taste in rap music. His rap reviews on artists he doesn't like or understand can come off as disrespectful. He also has the worst fan base of all time.
Aug 7, 2021 One critique I see about this album is that the features stand out the most, while zay ussualy blends into the track. I think this is done on purpose and works incredibly. Zay sets the atmosphere on every song, while the feature artists are intended to be the highlight of the track. Artists are not featured for the sake of it. Reminds me of a Travis Scott album in that aspect. Long story short this is an album for the vibers.
Aug 7, 2021 Bad look for that tde account. You gotta be above that type of s---. Act like it’s not on your radar. Fantano is big I guess, but you just gotta ignore that stuff. I’m not a rapper tho so...
Aug 7, 2021 Oh Tity and Dolla is incredible I would say to check out all three of his albums whenever you get the chance cause there's some great s--- in his discog
Aug 8, 2021 Zay's music is great, has great ambiance and a mellow atmosphere to it. Pretty compact at under an hour too, just vibe with it brodie and tell us what you think! There's no real wrong way to start with his discog tbh. If you wanna dive into any of them right off the bat that's fine. Going chronologically is great to see his evolution as an artist though but I'd say overall that all his projects are pretty different, but are quintessentially Zay through and through. That's from The Sun's Tirade, which is still my favourite of his three projects. It was released on the same day as Travis' Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight album, so it went under the radar that year tbh It 100% is done on purpose. He loves letting his features shine and says he approaches his tracks as more of a director, who's looking to bring out the best in his artists instead of trying to go toe-for-toe with them so to speak. Don't forget Pieces of a Kid mixtape!!
