Dec 26, 2020 This is the type of music people thought travis scott was going to make five years ago and still never has
Dec 26, 2020 always loved EA and the message he was tryna send...him and carti both tapped into some otherworldly s--- but carti went the satan route and uzi went the redemption interdimmensional cult route lol
Dec 26, 2020 People SWORE Rodeo was gonna be this game-changer for trap, was gonna have this punk or grunge aesthetic or whatever. And it was just a trap album lol. Which is fine, but that album's always been really messy to me. It has a decent number of great individual songs but the sequencing is a--- and the stellar guest verses do a lot of the heavy lifting. But there was some great production on there like nightcrawler and oh my dis side. I do like Astroworld quite a bit though, imo Travis finally found his pocket on that one.
Dec 26, 2020 Can we talk about the long pause on Place, or do we keep ignoring it? And Go2DaMoon has to be Kanye's most ambitious guest verse in a long time.
Dec 26, 2020 Rodeo was the album that made me completely abandon being an Eminem stan, and for that I will forever be thankful for. Only the greatest Trap album could achieve this lol
Dec 26, 2020 I think you and @Thy are kindred spirits Rodeo is definitely super accessible so it’s a good way to get into trap. And Thug’s verses on Days Before Rodeo were what sold me on him as an artist (especially Skyfall).
Dec 26, 2020 The amazing thing about this album is that most of these songs blow a lot of the leaks out of the water aside from the best ones like Cancun, Pissy Pampers, and Molly (which are on par with the best songs on the official release). My number one worry about this album was that he'd end up scrapping too many of the good songs cuz of leaks, but I only recognized I think two songs from the leaks I'd heard. Man really had most of his best stuff vaulted.
Dec 26, 2020 Yeah it's crazy. There was a time where we got new Carti leaks every day until probably the whole OG WLR leaked. Yet besides Neon, I don't recognize any song being leaked beforehand. Deluxe version with Kid Cudi feat. Kid Cudi, Molly and Cancun would be a smart move though
Dec 26, 2020 Yeah I sifted through just now to remember which ones they were and it was Neon and Place I recognized—and I realized Place wasn't even a full song I'd heard, it was a Pain 1993 edit that combined a 40 second snippet of Place with the Drake verse on Pain 1993, cuz I guess there's also 4 sec snippet of Drake on Place too.
Dec 26, 2020 i think rodeo has aged better with me with time..some of the joints i thought was filler kinda hit different 4 me now like 90210, i can tell & never catch me at the TIME i think rodeo probably was quite progressive but honestly i think i like travis in that bag more than what carti was doing but s--- i won’t rly know till he do it lol
Dec 26, 2020 idk why go2damoon doesn’t have the replay value i quite want, kanye felt a lil clunky in most places with some good memorable lines but i adore that beat switch for carti
Dec 26, 2020 I think the main thing rodeo did was give people an easy door into the world of trap like I said—a way for people to ease in who weren’t ready for thug, future, or migos. I kinda feel the opposite though, rodeo has aged poorly for me, cuz I didn’t always feel that way about the sequencing.
Dec 26, 2020 The way rockstar made hits with the demonic production right off the bat whew. Idk if I should regret skipping out on Die Lit or nah. Haven’t heard s--- like this in a min
Dec 26, 2020 Seems like carti wasn't only lying his a--- of but also WORKING his a--- off. Him creating so many songs that even surpass the goat status of Rihanna-in-Fenty-lingerie-pics, makes me forget the pain he put us through.
Dec 26, 2020 He feels way more natural on this, than on Saint Jhn, Ty$ and 2Chainz projects (Feel A Way is still goated). For whatever reason I keep replaying Go2DaMoon, maybe because I expect the beat to drop any minute, just to get disappointed again in the end. Still I enjoy it. Very odd how Carti managed to do that.
