Aug 7, 2018 You think that highly of My Krazy Life? I love the first 7 tracks to pieces, but the second half doesn't hold my attention near as well.
Aug 7, 2018 i think it's essentially a perfect record and it encapsulates what was the most creative style in rap production at that point. it's like a tighter flockaveli in that sense.
Aug 7, 2018 100% agreed with your 2nd point. The album just seems to dip down a notch for it's latter half, and never really feels as urgent and consequential as the first 7 tracks. Do it to Ya and Me and My b---- feel like B-sides to me, and Really Be doesn't hit me as hard as I think it's trying to. I absolutely love the album, just surprised you think it's flawless.
Aug 7, 2018 ...what? lol ah i feel you –– i think those songs work very well. you're a still brazy person?
Aug 7, 2018 What do you think of this record? I think it’s good but not as good as still Brazy or mkl
Aug 7, 2018 My Krazy Life is the best “gangster rap” album of all time. Still Brazy was a solid follow up. Stay Dangerous is trash
Aug 7, 2018 yeah. it's a very good 3.5 mics. have a review coming up today actually i think. i don't agree with any of these three characterizations lol
Aug 7, 2018 Ahhh now I see what your post about the mics before meant, makes sense now lol. I don’t understand a lot of the criticism it has been getting on this site.
Aug 7, 2018 MKL and Still Brazy are equally excellent to me. Think I have a preference for MKL just because it flows so f---ing smoothly. As for this album, its grown on me a bit since the first listen and definitely has a lot of good things about it, especially the second half. But overall feels less focused and lacks the weight of the previous 2
Aug 7, 2018 i do. it's not as musically ambitious, and until its last four or five songs doesn't have a lot of the paranoia and deep-psyche stuff that makes his other music interesting. it's a step down, no doubt –– but i still think it's a wellllll above-average rap record.
Aug 7, 2018 Right I agree it’s a step down, it’s just a step down from his previous 2 is stil really good imo. Although I guess that’s pretty much what you just said
Aug 7, 2018 Still Brazy is just consistent all the way through, and it does so without sacrificing the high's of MKL. And tho I feel like a snob admitting it, i do prefer the production on Brazy over MKL. Plus I think YG as a lyricist has never been better than I Got A Question, and Twist My Fingaz is his best song (one of the best west coast songs OAT too, tbh). When the 2010s are done I think it will be recognized as one of the top 10 best of the decade. Meet the Flockers is my favorite off of MKL if that explains anything.
Aug 8, 2018 Im trying to like this album but the production is so stagnant in that I feel we have heard it all before and it brings nothing new to the table
