Feb 24, 2015 Doesn't have to be hip hop albums just any albums in general, I'll start. The Weeknd - Kissland The general concious of this album when it first came out was that while it was a solid project it was disappointing compared to all the fantastic music The Weeknd released prior. This being really his first studio album (The Trilogy was just a compilation of all his mixtapes + a couple new tracks) a lot of people were expecting a lot from this album and I have to admit, I was one of the many that was left kind of underwhelmed when I first heard this project. I listened to it for a couple months and then completely stopped listening to it probably for like a year until last March, I went on a trip to Europe for two weeks, played this album on flight there and it turned out to be the sound track of my entire trip. I'm really not sure what clicked with me that time around but I love this album now and think it's great. It grew on me tremendously! Drake - Nothing Was the Same When this album first came out I was pleasantly surprised. I was just starting to get into Drake, I wasn't a big fan of any of his prior projects and this album really is what turned me completely. Initially I thought the album was kind of hit or miss but the good out weighted the bad/mediocre tracks so I rated it a 7/10. Over time, some of the tracks I weren't so big on have clicked with me and now the album is probably like a 7.5/10 for me which is really saying something because hip hop albums tend to fall a bit in my ratings as time goes on but this album is aging very well up to this point.
Feb 24, 2015 The Game - LAX Reflection Eternal - Revolutions Per Minute The Roots - How I Got Over Pharoahe Monch - Desire Felt - Felt, Vol 2: A Tribute to Lisa Bonet They've all aged better than I expected. And why are some of you guys naming albums that have barely had time to age? Talk to me in a few years about how Kiss Land, Nothing Was The Same and Yeezus have aged. Also, "Kiss Land" might be the worst album title of all time.
Feb 24, 2015 Both albums are nearly a year and a half old. What's wrong with claiming they've aged well up to this point?
Feb 24, 2015 Nothing wrong with that. Reading the thread title got me thinking a bit farther back I guess. But it does seem like too many discussions here revolve around the same bunch of albums.
Feb 24, 2015 808s & Heartbreaks Diplomatic Immunity American Gangster Tha Carter 2 Random as h--- but I was always fond of these projects but as time went on I find myself revisiting more often than I thought. In retrospect these pieces of work managed to become somewhat essentials in each artists discographies.
