    i'm not gonna sit here and act like i'm some sorta morally superior c----... but although I don't fully agree with the looting, (i'm caring less and less as I hear about these fast food/liquor/convenience/outlets etc are getting robbed. i'm sure a couple hundred thou is barely a dent in the billionaire ceo's pocket (doesn't make it completely ok or morally right whatever dont care))

    what i'm trying to say is, if c---- in Acacia ridge started lootin en mass - best believe coco's gonna hit the supermarket for tat supplies, tobacco store for a new bong, the pawn shop for new drip. idgaf.

    I never meant to imply that you're uneducated or an anomaly—I mean there are tons of people in this thread who I consider to be intelligent who disagree with me, yourself included.

    I also never said looting was required to achieve results. And I'm not saying you can't have a layered opinion. In that same line of thinking, it's also possible to think stealing is wrong but to not care about stealing in this instance.

    What I did say was that, while I think stealing is wrong as a general rule, I'm personally unconcerned with it in this instance and am disappointed it's what so many people have shifted their focus to. As wpg said, the destruction of property and looting is a direct response to cops attacking medics and journalists and people trying to protest peacefully (which they did for years but people wagged their finger at that too). I don't think it's an ideal or perfect solution, but what's left to do if this is the only thing that gets people's attention? The sad truth is that if there hadn't been riots most of us wouldn't still be talking about George Floyd.

    This is what I'm driving at:
    It bothers me that many people in this thread have said harsher things about people who stole a ps4 than they have about the cops who kneeled on George Floyd's neck til his windpipe got crushed and he suffocated.

    It's like, OK, yes, stealing is wrong. We've established that. It's in the f---in 10 commandments we've all agreed with that for thousands of years. But I just don't understand why anyone cares this much about target and autozone in a situation that's going to have an outcome that means life or death for many americans.

    it's not binary, and i clearly wasn't speaking to you. but i encourage you to re-read my post, because once again, you're filling in gaps & putting words in others' mouths, simply to fill your narrative. in no way have i stated in any of my posts that i, "find the interests of these companies to be remotely on par with the state of policing in america". your words, typed solely to help you feel warm and fuzzy about yourself.

    your egotistical desire to convince yourself that you're always correct is so elementary, to the point that you went out last night, well after the dust had settled, not to join the protest, but to wait near a reporter to fit your fuzzy narrative, who was, in your words, waiting near a store to report on looting to fit her fuzzy narrative, so that you could go back home and type about it. your actions are on par with those that you condemn in the same sentence. i truly wish you good mental health.

    prove it then! people in your city are putting their bodies on the line; go get between them and the cops, drive them supplies, pay people’s bail, use some of your famous comms skills. do something.

    Yes, but we are trying to shift the conversation from "well that's to be expected" to "why are cops allowed to do this?" cuz the former mindset passes the blame to the person who was beaten up by the cops instead of asking a larger more important question about society.

    To get 10 people to beat the s--- out of them with nightsticks??? lol of course not. As I said cops need to have more composure than that even if the words actually are hurtful to them.

    Even then, you're comparing someone insulting a cop because of their race for...what reason? to someone standing on a cop car in protest of innocent people getting murdered by the police.

    The police academy in my county isn’t too far from where I live, and the only learning I see them doing is just non-stop running lol. It’s funny though because actual police in normal neighborhoods are just fat old white guys.

    like, aren’t there certain ideas like quotas in place? That’s just nonsense.

    Also, let’s just face it. Most suburban white kids in America are subconsciously raised to have a little racist biased. Like elders locking the car doors in “bad” neighborhoods for example. If most white guys are brought up with this fear, why do we place them in black neighborhoods to police? They are on edge the whole time. Of course something bad is likely to happen.

    idk. I don’t have any answers on how to fix the problems, and I don’t pretend to, but yea it’s just awful.

    but you’re right, most jobs you need a degree to even have any shot of getting your foot in the door in a given field. And these guys just walk into these police roles after all else fails for them job wise.
