    You guys aren’t looking at the big picture. No one looks at riots independently. Historians reflect on them in context of the movement they were apart of. In 20 years, no one is going to be talking about a playground being on fire. The history is going to talk about the progress & change that came from all of this.

    I don’t claim to know how this is going to be looked upon 20 years lol.

    All I can see is what it looks like now and it’s absolutely terrible.

    so to be clear -- you're blaming her for going out to peacefully protest, and not the cops that are making things violent?

    @ 6:45 that officer showed a ridiculous amount of restraint w/ no retaliation or arrest tbh... the individual responses of the officers are all mixed as well.

    That’s my point. Everyone views the violence negatively in the moment. They don’t realize that this is largely how this country has pushed for change since its foundation. It’s ugly & avoidable but this is how social change has historically happened.

    it's really not. it's actually the opposite of his job. assault results in arrest for obvious reasons. in this case, there was restraint, given the circumstances.

    that pic is real as far as I know(cop pointing gun at kid), I saw the photographer tweet it out earlier today and say he's most proud of this photo of all the ones he's taken, can't for the life of me find the original tweet now but I'll keep trying.

    I don't see what's 'clearly fake' about it, but whatever. never said anything about the gun being pointed directly at the kid, I assume (and did from the start) that he was aiming it towards someone else or the crowd as a whole.

    yeh, agree that it's a real photo. but also agree with your last sentence.
    ...knowing that, i duno why the photographer is most proud of this one. must be a s--- photographer, or is just proud of pulling a fast one on people.

    Shouldn’t have described it that way. At first glance the way the window is positioned in the shot made I look like the entire building just disappeared.

    misleading perspective for sure but I take back saying it was “clearly fake” no shame on you

    The amount of mental gymnastics people go through to defend officers using excessive force “because someone was breaking the law” is astounding.

    Edit: not talking about the pic they’re taking about above just a general statement

    Yes I am blaming the woman for risking her child’s life by going out to protest when it’s been knowingly violent.

    I’m sure she had peaceful intentions, but how the f--- you gonna rick your child’s life just to help send a message.

    also please stop acting like the cops are the only violent ones. That’s ignorant as f---. Both sides are blatantly in the wrong.

    I don’t think all riots throughout American history have been looked back at positively.

    but even if they were, are you really arguing that this is the way change should be made? By ruining even more lives?

    Ik, I was trying to say I shouldn’t have described it that way by calling it “clearly fake”.

    I agree with Slyk tho that the picture’s perspective is misleading and I question the photographer’s inventions

    ah, damnit. back at this again. you're 10000% correct.

    ...but that doesn't mean you can't acknowledge the details as they're progressing, man. wtf. i just shared a video of how f----- up it was for the officers to shove an elderly man to the concrete, and you had no comment. but then i shared a photo of a playground melting and that's viewed at as being a ridiculous piece of media to share in your eyes.
