what's this you're referrign to? corona virus? yes i'd have to agree, corona virus cases are shooting through the roof i have only seen maybe 3 out of 3 million protesters obeying the corona virus social distancing rules... very sad!

protesting definitely puts people at higher risk than staying home but i will say every demonstration i was at was more conscientious than any business or other gathering i've been to since this started

Yeah I live in ATL now. Our police chief just resigned because of this. I'd like to think it's in solidarity but I'm not hopeful for that in any capacity lol.

Someone was found hung from a tree in CA yesterday too and as far as I know it's unclear whether it was a suicide or lynching yet...police called it suicide but the coroner said it's unclear pending additional investigation.

I'd say 90% of the people were wearing masks at every protest I've been to so far.

I also got tested on thursday just in case and it came back negative luckily.

That guy was tasing the cop before he was shot. I know people will say he didn't deserve to die but really cant speak on it. Cuz no clue what was going on in that cops head, he was probably in fight or flight mode, thinking the guy was gonna take his gun next. Especially with all the cops dying. I think this would end with death regardless.

also if anyone is wondering about CHAZ—while I don't live in Seattle anymore I still know a lot of people who live there and everyone I know who's been to CHAZ says it's basically just a concentration of protesters. They screen documentaries, have guest speakers, and provide a bunch of free food and drinks and there's like a farmer's market basically. I'm sure most people here aren't getting their news from places like fox and msnbc but it's not this violent mad max wasteland that regular media is sensationalizing it to be lol. It's just regular a--- capitol hill s--- but with an abandoned police precinct. Raz Simone isn't a "warlord" he's just a local rapper who's been a big part of the BLM movement there who was caught on tape punching someone for vandalizing a small business.

Not true, tattoo parlours are medically sanctioned workplaces and by law are required to
Masks don't do anything to prevent corona (did a course on this) and nobody at these protests is conscientious when the only commercial chemical to k--- the virus is viraclean.

If it's not a tattoo parlour or a medically sanctioned are it's not Covid safe brahz

I mean yeah masks aren’t 100% going to protect you but they’re better than nothing. As far as I know they’re more to prevent you from infecting other people via coughing etc than to protect yourself. I know it’s a risk regardless

but yeah people at protests were being more conscientious than all the mfs at the beach over Memorial Day lol

I’d been wanting to move to a new city for awhile cuz I’d lived in WA my whole life (all Seattle besides 5 years up north for college). Long story short I went thru a breakup and moved outta my apartment with my ex so I had no lease tying me down. Lived with my mom for a few months while I sold and got rid of most of my stuff then basically traveled/lived places short term for a whole year.

Was in Mexico for two months, then lived in NYC for a few months, came back to Seattle for a bit then started on a road trip to meet my friends in Austin cuz we were flying to Aruba. Came back and continued on to visit my friend in Birmingham and lived with him for a few months. Basically one day we visited Atlanta and I liked it and was ready to settle down somewhere so I just said f--- it and started looking for a place to live, moved the next month. And since I’m a freelancer I didn’t have to worry about finding a job super fast.

    no regrets so far!

I don't understand how it got to this point anyways just from being passed out in a drive thru, ridiculous..did they say who called the cops on him? wonder if it was an employee or some random customer nearby..f----- up.

He was driving wasted and passed out in the drive thru. Cops were called and when they went to arrest him for DUI he fought the cops, grabbed one of their tazers, and appears like he tazed the cop.

As much as most people on here wont see it this way, and just as much as resisting arrest isnt a death warrent, the officer did what he had to do. If he was tazed and incapacitated, whats stopping the drunk guy from grabbing his gun and killing him?

Such a sad situation, but in this case, I cant argue against the cops actions. This doesnt change the fact or dispute the fact that we need our police system reformed asap

Police label tasers as “non-lethal.” He pointed the taser at an officer while running away & was shot in the back. You can’t have it both ways.

there were multiple cops there, they could've got him down...the employees or customers or whoever called the cops also could've just had him pull over and call an uber or something.

a DUI isn't a death sentence, cops can learn to handle things better instead of being excused for their actions just because it's a tough situation, or whatever the excuse is each time...You have multiple cops there to arrest someone for a DUI, that should be a simple situation..don't excuse their murder.

*edit* also wasn't he shot while running away from them? lol come on now..

He was running away aiming and firing a taser at an officer. Werent there only 2 officers on the scene? And its not the employees job to call an uber for the guy, they did the right thing too. You want a guy whos wasted and cant stay awake driving down your neighborhood? And you cant play with a gun off of a couldve. If the guy reacts quicker and gets the officers gun, boom, its an active shooter situation with one dead cop and who knows how many more cops/pedestrians.

I 100% agree that all cops need more training and a lot better training

I’ve actually never been a huge Bernie fan. He most closely aligns with my views out of all the candidates who ran this go round, but he was far from the ideal candidate.
And if anyone recalls I was the first progressive on S80 to call for Bernie to drop out, like three weeks before he did.

If the progressive movement wants success it needs to find someone younger with more charisma (like AOC) to really take charge
