On Friday (June 7), the OutKast MC shared a clip in which he can be seen getting his teeth scanned in a dentist’s office. Bold, white text stamped on the video then reveals that he will be embarking on the New Blue Sun Live tour over the summer along with Carlos Niño, Nate Mercereau, Surya Botofasina, and Deantoni Parks, all of whom were featured on his record. His post notes, however, that the lineup of players is “subject to change.” The 26-date trek commenced the very day it was announced with back-to-back-to-back performances at Pappy + Harriet’s in Joshua Tree, California. After performances in North America, Australia and Europe over the next few months, the concert series will wrap up with a triad of shows at the Henry Miller Memorial Library in Big Sur, California at the start of September. Last year, soon after the rap veteran legend announced his instrumental LP, Questlove took to social media to offer his thoughts on the “next level” tracklist and stir up anticipation for it. “I am no stranger to the ‘departure album’ […] albums the complete opposite of what the artist is known for” he wrote on Instagram. “I knew this 3000 jawn was a left turn but I didn’t know it’s the RIGHT left turn.”
