    Naruto was published a year befor hxh tho i believe the Kurapika reveal happened before in term of chapters. But Japan has a thing for eyes and family slaughtering. Both writers had planned this before they saw it in the other manga

    Although it's a common trope kishimoto himself stated that he was strongly influenced by togashis work. Both of them took a lot of inspiration out of dragon ball, kishimoto is just way less subtle in converting the inspiration he takes out of others their works than togashi is.
