That was obvious from the first episode. This is noir+drama.
I mean this is wildly original. Not much anime's (or anything in any medium) uses visual metaphors so much. And overall i liked it. I just don't like how the ending of the third played out.

First of all It's too safe, and the decision the MC took was something someone else had to tell him. It kinda ruins the concept of moral choice when someone gives you the answers.

This is adapted from a manga or sumn? Would give it a shot.

Well yeah it was but it lasted really long. Was literally almost half of the entire movie.

I've watched wayy too much ecchi (the best anime genre) comedies to not find that cliched tbh.

the art direction is noir, the rest of the series is completely different and very colorful.

i wouldnt call it safe at all, and since this is the first chronologically in a very long series, the ending is very open. plus the conclusion wasn't the action araragi took, it's why he took the action.

its adapted from a series of light novels. p much all of them except for 1 book is already adapted, with kizumonogatari being one of the most recent. watch it in airing order, not chronologically.

idk i was laughing my a--- off, it was really needed to get a break from the tension in the plot at that point. and if you dislike random extended detours like that then this series probably isnt for you. Theres one episode in nisemonogatari where p much half of it is a scene of araragi brushing her sisters teeth. This story doesn't ever take itself seriously

ive probably watched twice the amount of ecchi garbage you have, and thats exactly why the way its incorporated in the monogatari series is so refreshing. It's either non distracting and effortless, or a giant detour to focus on it for 10 minutes straight. it's a very postironic take where they're parodying it and putting tons of effort into it at the same time.

But generally the series is very sexualized because most of the story is told through araragis eyes. What you see is his subjective perception, and not what "actually happened", if you will. This is why everything is oversexualized at times, because hes a horny teen and its part of his character. Those thoughts occupy a lot of his brain and thats why you'll suddenly have long sequences about it

also about the groping hanekawa part, that'd actually be wayyy funnier if you had watched the other seasons first, araragi trying to scheme himself into groping her is a returning gag every now and then

Wake Up, Girls is very good. It’s mostly a series of movies and is not only a great idol anime in its own right but is also a pretty refreshing deconstruction/commentary on the irl anime industry with a lot of thinly veiled shots at real companies.
There’s Idolm@ster too which is okay, but there’s a whole f---ing lot of it and it’s easy to get burnt out on.

p fkn great only real complaint is theres too many girls so a lot of the characters dont get the screentime they need, and in return some of the drama seems too easily solved, or maybe the reason for drama is kind of forced in the first place

Yeah I thought that a real deconstruction of the idol genre would be dope. But I guess Perfect blue already did that
Started sunshine. I was really confused at first because I thought it would be about Yukiho and Arisa's group. But still its alright so far
