Not sure if you recall or even saw but a while back, there was a thread where @Caslon and I talked about harem manga, and the fact that a large majority of it is character aids with nothing redeeming. She agreed but said that there are gems among the garbage, with great characters that are just fun to read and I agree too.
Even if I'm not that into harem manga or mechs, it doesn't mean I have to s--- on the genre as a whole and you should either @Drax99

Harems, imo, are an inherently cancerous genre where the mcs are just boring blank slates with the backbone of a mollusk who for some reason have a like 8 girls lusting after them. Well I guess I shouldn't call it inherently cancerous, since love triangles or even rectangles shouldn't be avoided and are a thing irl, but they are rarely ever actually analyzed and it just becomes a boring self insert genre where all the girls are developed yet still act r-----ed when around the male leads. School days (Which sucks) could've been better if it more fully explored the effects of what cheating does and how it effects the ones being cheated on, but it just amounted to a boring exploitative shitshow no worse than the harems it satirizes. Ouran is cool, cause aside from being a reverse harem, only 3 (2 rly) actually are infatuated with the mc, and don't have stupid reasons for liking her either.

See that's what I mean. Yes a lot of harem os complete garbage, but there are good ones too, with a MC that is actually a character, girls that are more than just cardboard cut out stereotypes and a plot.
