    Lol I'm pretty sure it is, and they're probs doing it to build a community. Esp if they have to compete with MAL and haven't been around for as long

    @Caslon u seen k--- La k---? it's probably the deepest I've gone into anime (apart from casual DBZ, FMA, naruto, bleach etc)
    Found it obviously a bit weird, but very cool.

    k--- La k--- is one of the more western influenced anime and isn't that far out.

    It had potential and was a lot of fun but not amazing.

    I kinda want a new anime, but most of the time I try to pick one up i get around 20 episodes in and lose interest cause there's either too many story arcs or too many characters.

    Try Code Geass.

    Anime usually has a lot of characters, and lots of story arcs if they're more than 1/2 cour (12-24 episodes).. That's just something you have to get used to if you want to watch anything longer, but the best anime usually aren't overextended garbage like 400+ episode battle shounen.

    Yeah like even with Naruto, I watched maybe 50 episodes and got bored. then watched about 50 episodes of shippuden or w/e and got back into it, then finished it off by reading the last hundred or so manga chapters. I missed probably like 100+ episodes or 300+ manga's but I still feel like I know the show front to back lol.

    You won't miss anything valuable by not watching naruto, 99% of it is filler, flashbacks and/or asspulls. It started out with a cool concept but the money ruined everything.

    The only "essential" long shounen are Hunter X Hunter (2011) and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Hunter X Hunter will never be finished, but it's really good. It has a lot of different characters and story arcs though, so it might not be for you. Brotherhood on the other hand is just 56 episodes long, and doesn't have that many characters in comparison.

    Other than that pretty much all long shounen is a no

    Yeah I've heard Naruto gets a lot of hate as being praised by un-educated anime fans or some s---. I never understood it, but then again, i never read/watched any naruto filler.
    I've seen FMA brotherhood a long time ago, was thinking of re-watching though cause I don't remember a lot of it.

    Liked the Naruto anime as a kid but when I decided to get up to date in it I chose the manga route.

    Manga all day everyday.
