Section Eighty has officially been alive and killing the forum game for 1 year! Technically, the first 2 members were registered on 11/22, but 11/23 saw our first threads (20), our first posts (338), our first likes (171), and 33 more members register.

1 year later we are at 17,000+ threads created and 660,000+ posts!

Post an appropriate celebration gif and let's party! You will receive two drink tickets at the door.

That last one didn't go so well, but given the recent developments of there being a killer on the loose, we've determined that there needs to be a new sheriff in town. After mulling it over at the office, we all agreed that it would be irresponsible to not pin that badge on JMG. Thus, JMG's being given a second chance to prove himself to the @Staff and hopefully to the @BestMembers of the forum that he can spark positive change and continue to push us forward.

Starting today, JMG will be the new moderator of the Off-Topic sxn. God willing, he'll be able to restore order and to bring the sxn80 killer to justice.

Please help me re-re-welcome JMG by adding the hat of 'Sheriff' to his resume.

Apologies for the downtime.

There's been issues with the server these past few days. I'm going to continue to monitor and still have some work to do to verify that I've nipped the root cause, but it appears that we're in a stable environment now. There may be intermittent downtimes as I run additional tests and make adjustments, so please bear with me.

Be sure to read the walkthrough.

A couple additionals that I'm sure would otherwise get some questions:

• Alerts no longer clear (get marked as read) all at once when hovering over the "Alerts" dropdown. The new behavior is that they clear one at a time upon actively clicking the individual alerts (exception: if there's a quote & a like to the same post, for example, then both of those will clear upon viewing that post. same goes for if you manually jump into the thread/post where the alert applied..basically, if you view it, then it's marked as read). This will take some getting used to, but it was intentional and took a decent amount of work to make happen. The historical behavior was always broken imo -- if you have 8 new notifications and want to see at a glance what they are and/or take action on *one* of them, then you suddenly lose your reminder that you have 7 other new notifications to check out. Keep the alerts you want to follow-up on later as unread.
• A combined alert/inbox count on mobile (top right, in place of the solid red dot) isn't there due to a native XenForo bug.
• Yes, it's 2 clicks to get to your alerts on mobile now.
• Yes, Statuses & Featured Albums are not currently available on mobile. Technical limitation that will take some time to work through, but didn't want to wait potentially weeks longer to get this out to you guys.
• Night theme is coming. It shouldn't take very long, but please don't ask for a specific release date. Apologies to your retinas for the time being.
• Known bug that I'm working through:
  • if someone new follows you, then you'll receive an alert for it (as you always would), however, that alert doesn't get marked as read when clicking on it from the new Alerts dropdown... it's another XenForo native bug that I encountered, but there's a couple workarounds:
    • click the "Mark All As Read" link found at the bottom of the Alerts dropdown (desktop only) to clear it.
    • uncheck the "New follower" option in your Alert Preferences and you won't receive that alert at all anymore. The "fix" will be to uncheck this option for everyone once I figure out the query to run.

I have so much I wanna say but I'm also at a loss for words. I'll be giving an official speech very soon regarding my vision and expectations. Yes this is yet another incredible milestone in my incredible and inspiring story. This time it isn't just about me though. I see some serious potential around the forum and together we will do great things. There can only be peoples champ and I could never fill those shoes.. I, we will give it everything we got though.

Thank you to @Slyk @DKC and the current staff for welcoming me in. I know there is plenty others and don't worry I didn't forget but first I need to call my mom.

1. Racism, Homophobia, & General Bigotry
We take pride in the fact that this forum has a truly global user base that extends to every (habitable) continent on earth. However, this is an American forum based around (black) American music. We don’t expect everyone to 100% understand American race relations and culture, but we do expect you to try and be willing to learn—especially as fans of hip-hop. It’s fine to joke around—but bigotry for bigotry’s sake will not be tolerated.

2. Exposures/Doxxing/Stalking
Posting another member’s photos, social media accounts, or any personal information they have not publicly shared on SXN80 is not allowed under any circumstance. This includes sharing other members’ information in private. Doxxing will result in a long-term, or permanent ban.

3. Respect & Attacking Other Members
Beefing has been a staple of rap forums since their inception, but we still expect people to treat each other with a basic level of respect. Any sort of interpersonal/beef threads should go in Off-Topic, and please respect the wishes of posters who do not wish to be involved. We want SXN80 to be a place where people can freely discuss their real life issues, struggles, and search for personal advice. Be courteous of that. Do not negatively attack users for opening up.

On the flipside: don't dish it if you can't take it.

4. Spamming
We encourage you to make as many threads as you want, so long as they're thoughtful or interesting. Before you make a thread, think about whether it's something that needs its own thread or could just be posted in ArtistSXN chat threads or ongoing album threads. When it comes to posting inside threads, double or even triple posting is fine as long as it's adding to discussion. Similarly, bumping old threads is completely fine if you want to continue discussion—just use your best judgement (i.e. don't bump a thread from 2015 thread called "new eminem song dropping tomorrow" as it will cause confusion).

5. Mention Groups
The artist mention groups should only be tagged for big, tangible news (a new song, album announcement, new music video, etc.). For minor news, you can use the superfan tags (such as StanSXN, YeezusDisciples, WoesSXN).

6. Off-Topic Threads
Oftentimes, threads naturally go off-topic as discussion gets more in-depth or heated and there's nothing particularly wrong with that—it's how conversations go in real life. I'm not really a stickler when it comes to this stuff for the above reasons, but if you feel that your thread has been hijacked feel free to reach out and the off-topic posts can be split into another thread. Mods and admins may do this at their discretion as well.

6. Alt Accounts
The occasional alt is fine as long as it's not disruptive to the forum. Creating an alias to keep posting while you are banned will result in your ban length being reset or increased at staff’s discretion.

7: NSFW Content (p---, gore, etc.):
Gore is not allowed to be posted under any circumstances. Any pornography/nudity posted in the public SXNs is also a bannable offense. Any and all nudity needs to be contained to the NSFW SXN. That said, NSFW isn't an "anything goes" SXN—use your judgement—any egregious postings here are also subject to removal and can be considered bannable.

Any inclusion of underage nudity, pornography, photographs, artwork, and/or, but not limited to discussion is treated with zero tolerance. Any instance of this will be handled aggressively.

8. Download Links
Posting links to download albums, songs, and other pirated media is not allowed—aside from in [redacted]. If you don't know what I'm talking about, legend has it you must Seek The Orange Flame™ and you shall be rewarded.

9. Bans
We’re all human, and we all mess up. For that reason, we believe in giving people second chances. In general, we try to ramp up ban lengths before resorting to permanent bans, but ban length is always up to staff’s discretion.
