This might sound corny but i legitimately love this forum and most of the posters here. It’s a small little community that honestly means a lot to me, and i’m sure i’m not the only one who feels that way.

I've never broadcasted this, since I've been able to keep the food on the table and stay out of the red, but ad revenue has been on the decline and I've barely been making enough to cover the monthly server costs of running the site.

Hence, I've re-implemented the "account upgrade", which offers:

• 1 - No ads
• 2 - Add up to 300 custom smilies
• 3 - Will likely have a visual indicator next to username in the future...thinking through a few things here, in conjunction with re-introducing the Plus sxn in the near future

Prolly noticed that there's now a "SUGGESTED ARTISTS" listing on the homepage. The plan is to roll out suggestions for add'l artists + add new mention groups + create new artist sxns

...just a lil insight on immediate plans. i've got a few add'l things planned as well on the development-front. going to pick back up on some of the non-dev stuff from the 'Growing SXN80' thread shortly as well

I've been toying with the idea of condensing the individual artist sxns into a single Music sxn. We've done this before, with s--- results, because nothing was done aside from slapping everything into the same box of chaos... here's what i'm proposing. read the pros/cons so that there's no surprises.

Spoiler: Pros

Pros

• bridges the gap between desktop & mobile (desktop sidebar has these things today)
  • quick follow, quick filter, artist write-ups
• will boost activity in Music sxn
• makes it easier to find new music from other artists
• will de-fragment the sxns... we're used to it, but it's really kinda confusing when you still have a general 'music' sxn + have some artists split off into their own sxn
• you can ignore the artist/prefix and you won't see artists you don't care about (ex: ignore eminem prefix = won't see eminem threads in the new consolidated sxn)
• looks kinda dope

Cons

• homepage doesn't respect filtering of prefixes, so you will still see eminem threads on the home feed even if choosing to ignore that prefix. the threads will be filtered in the Music SXN though (see mockup).
• we'll be losing the "album", "music video", "singles", & "mixtape" prefixes/filters found in the artist sxns today...not a biggie tbh
• our pinned threads from each artist's sxn today will have to be narrowed way down, else you'll see 15 pinned threads when entering the music sxn

Desktop will stay the same as it is today, but I'll swap out the irrelevant artists listed in the sidebar today with the featured artists.

Might also introduce a similar view to the sports sxn if it goes over well.

My noms aren't just people I like the best...for example, I love @captain awesome but he's too almost-30-years-old and girlfriendy to have time to be the 'best' member. There are tons of people who fall into that category for differing reasons which is unfortunate, but I gotta be as unbiased as I can. These are people I both like and feel contribute the most overall to the forum:

@Ordinary Joel - all-around all star, impossible not to like, posts lots of news and contributes to nearly every section.
@able - another all-around all star, extremely friendly, helps out immensely with promotion for kendrick sxn.
@Peter Parker - one of the most well spoken and knowledgable members on the forum and English isn't even his first language, contributes everywhere.

Really hard decision honestly, considering how many great people I was considering voting for based upon their forum contributions (@Fire Squad, @Narsh, @Skippy, @Jax, @Nori, @Charlie Strangelove) or due to their help with social media and other projects (@FreeAgent @Akio @Big Mitch @Loyalty). We have way to many great people here. :MJDK:
