Sep 18, 2015 also you entirely skipped explain why OD and Numbers are one note. this is why i dont take "critics" seriously most of the time when it comes to thug. RARELY are they willing to talk about the actual music. i dont even think its intentional. its a subconscious defensive mechanism
Sep 18, 2015 i skipped it because i havent listened to barter 6 since it came out and have no plans to considering i disliked the album and knew why
Sep 18, 2015 oh great discussion then btw, only reason i asked this question is b/c ive asked you before and didn't answer it then either. but i guess back when the album came out you were too busy giving it attention to answer questions about it. and now months later you already know you dislike it and why so there's no point in explaining! makes perfect sense!
Sep 18, 2015 i explained why i disliked the album months ago so ill do it again as best i can -medicore production throughout, which was my biggest gripe overall. trap music can be good but there's only a few people doing it that are really good and they're not on barter 6 -thug has an interesting flow/voice/general way of rapping, but its wasted on medicore production and he isn't strong enough to save it -the album in general to me is a bummer, i feel like i should be having fun listening to it but i just can't. its just flat out boring unlike maybe DS2 or Rodeo, which are very enjoyable to listen to (excluding a few tracks on both albums which aren't that good) I think Thug has crazy potential, but it's only really shown on a few singles/features. When he puts together a cohesive and consistent album with more experimental trap production or more s--- like his Jamie xx collab, hit me up because for now I'm not interested.
Sep 18, 2015 Don't have a problem with Fantano. I either completely agree with him or completely disagree with him, there's really no in between. I feel like he explains his positions well, this was obviously a quick little video so he didn't say much but typically he really does go into what he likes/doesn't like with an album.
Sep 18, 2015 His worst review BY FAR is his House of Balloons review. I believe he gave it like a 3/10 & kept referring to The Weeknd as a group lol. That review was absolutely awful, he's gotten much better since then though, even though I still don't agree with him when it comes to The Weeknd's music.
Sep 18, 2015 @ me next time And it's filled with trap production, so yeah, I'll call it a trap album. Or am I too dumb to get a mediocre London on tha Track beat?
Sep 18, 2015 lol. although in a super cynical sense, i guess it was other ppl who were responsible for his sound. but yeah i think i remember how bad it was. lololol also london is one of the best working producers
Sep 18, 2015 Disagree, he's at best a mid-tier trap producer. Compared to guys like Metro or Allan Ritter in the Atlanta scene, he's got nothing on them.
Sep 18, 2015 not gonna take your opinion too seriously on atlanta production if you think numbers and constantly hating and od and just might etc are trap songs.
Sep 18, 2015 Just as I won't take your opinion seriously for thinking Thug is one of the best rappers alive.
Sep 18, 2015 ok so b4 you cry and say i dont "accept" peoples opinions...what i am about to do next ISNT me being thickheaded ok? its just the PROCESS of having you EXPLAIN your stance, that eventually will give you VALIDITY in your position. I hope you read this slowly lol, b/c whenever it comes to this next step of me questions these blanket statements you made -- people like you usually lose interest and go "already explained it!!!" no, what you did just now is state your reasons for not liking the album. and when you respond to statements, you'll be doing the explaining part. k? (this is more a general PSA btw even tho it applies to you) first off who are these "few people" lol. second, what in the world is mediocore about Halftime. Or Just Might Be. Production wise? this is like half the same point as your first one...so address that first please. how are tracks like halftime and just might be poorly produced? Dream? Never Had It? and really? thug didn't carry Can't Tell with his hook? His bridges on Halftime weren't enough to "save it?" Then maybe it was how nimble he is with his flow? Or his changes in delivery? Nah? None of those? Thats UTTERLY your fault. Its not meant to be a "fun" album. It gets outright DEPRESSING towards the end if you're listening. yeah maybe its that "medicore" production you mentioned :jayzlaugh: do you not see how weak ur criticisms are at the moment?
