@Slyk I suggest sending this to 9to5mac (if you don't know them yet: they're the biggest and most reliable Apple news website out there) so that it gets more media attention. What you've talked about is truly a big scandal which deserves - a whole lot - more attention.

If the mbp is still under warrenty then you might be able to get somewhere on apple's online support. It took me like a week of bitching to get my faulty iPhone battery replaced but it happened. If you don't plan on buying another mbp after this you can easily find similarly spec laptops for cheaper prices.

My macbook video screen went blank. I took it in and they said it was from Water damage and it was going to be a $780 repair. They emailed me a picture of the damage but the image didn't save and I was not allowed to keep it. I asked Apple how do I even know that it is my computer in the picture as it could be any computer? they couldn't answer. I also asked why they had to send it out to their warehouse rather than unscrew the computer in the store? No answer. Anyway I declined the service, and than bought a tool from iFixit and took it apart myself....low and behold there was no evidence of any water damage, and I screwed it back together (without changing or repairing a d--- thing) and it has been working ever since. Apple does not give a f--- about the customer, unless the customer is planning to spend a lot of money on overpriced s-----y service. You know i'm not even kidding, if this was a normal laptop and you took it to a PC tech repair place they'd likely remove the battery for free - if they were to charge, it'd be for 1 hours of service, so around $20 maximum.

I hate Apple as a company. Some of their products are pretty good, though a bit expensive. Like I've said to everyone else who uses apple products "enjoy it while it lasts, as soon as it f---s up and you try to get it fixed, apple will find a way to spit in your face"

Best of luck getting this out there and I hope it picks up steam. Simple s--- like this where apple employees cover there ears and go "lalalalalalalalalalala" s----s me. their customer service is beyond terrible.

Just a suggestion but how about you go back to the store, pay the $130 to replace the battery but ask for $130 in store credit, thus guaranteeing your return and loyalty of upgrading your laptop as promised when the next iteration is out?
Sounds like a win-win situation to me.

What a s-----y situation, sorry @Slyk. :emoji_slight_frown: Sounds like just 1 d-ck Apple employee, but there are good ones out there. My cat chewed through my Macbook Pro charging cable and I chatted with them, they said they will replace it for free (I claimed it just stopped working), no hassle here.

However a guy at Sprint convincing me I needed 2 "free" iPads was another situation.. got an extra $34 on my monthly bill I gotta fight.

Yup I had a very weathered iPhone 6 plus leather case. I mean, it was destroyed. When it started getting darker around the edges, I started using all sorts of leather products to clean it up, but it just mangled the case in the end lol. Anyways I take my phone in to the Apple Store to get it swapped for a camera issue, and they gave me a free case too.

I've noticed the service at Apple has gotten progressively worse since I used to work there. When I was an employee, they preached "surprise & delight" in every case. "Under promise, over deliver." But since that time, s---'s gotten terrible.

I had a friend who went in to get a phone swapped, and the replacement model they gave him was locked to another carrier. When he went back, they couldn't figure out a simple way to sort him out. He ended up smashing his screen on the genius bar and paying the $50 replacement fee under Apple Care out of frustration :laff:

f---ing died at that story when he told me.

That's what I'd do - submit a tip and tweet the thread to the authors. These authors (twitter names) mainly write the news articles on 9to 5Mac and they're active in the Comments section (in other words: are open for input): @benlovejoy, @bzamajo, @ChanceHMiller, @JordanKahn, @apollomac and @markgurman

Sending it to the general social media accounts of 9to5Mac is another option.
