Big Mitch You never made me ran once

I haven't gone through reading all the posts in this thread, but I just wanted to say that this is like how my dad and several other people 50+ years old in my life think. They dismiss hip-hop with no valid reasoning and racism. It honestly sucks, but they're too stubborn to change and I don't like getting into arguments with them because nothing ever changes.

And I don't really understand it. He loves a lot of black artists from the 80s. The Commodores, Earth Wind & Fire, etc. He's just an idiot when it comes to race and very dismissive. The type of guy that thinks there's a difference between "n***rs and black people," as he would say.
Right. I can't comprehend how stupid some of the s--- is that comes out of their mouths. You never get through to them when trying to explain it either. It's like they have this cemented belief in everything and refuse to adapt. A week or two ago I got into an argument with my dad about the Sterling Brown case (NBA player police brutality case that's getting a lot of attention now) and all he could say is "well if you respect and listen to the police nothing like this would happen. The original video even showed him being reasonable with them, but my dad wasn't budging. It took until the recent videos that got out for him to tell me "oh s---, the officers should definitely be disciplined."

Even worse is the "well they shouldn't be allowed to call whites crackers" or "I get offended when someone calls me cracker" crowd

Like u know when someone says that they're racist, severely out of touch with reality, or both

I get that a lot too, it's nuts. I can't count the amount of times I've tried to explain it to him. Even my grandpa, (on my mom's side) who lived in a time where there were colored bathrooms and segregated everything, can adapt - and even bowl in leagues with - several black people, but my dad can't even distinguish between the n-word or cracker. It's just annoying.
