Sep 6, 2022 yep. his legacy is two songs that people who don't post on section eighty dot com remember as 50 cent songs I disagree on the weekend tho — he certainly went pop and it's a much diff sound than the original mixtapes, but I'm glad he didn't keep making the same albums over and over even if I haven't been a fan of every single one. I loved Starboy and Dawn FM personally.
Sep 6, 2022 Also Chance the Rapper for sure. I've never seen someone speedrun ruining their career so fast. Fired his manager when he was honest and told him his music wasn't good/ready to release and then hired his coattail-riding brother as a yesman. Released an awful album that was panned by critics and fans alike. Tried to jokingly participate in the discourse and just got s--- on cuz it was clear he was actually mad. Album was so bad that he had to cancel his tour cuz he couldn't even sell tickets to his shows with a 2-for-1 Black Friday deal. Still refuses to listen to criticism and surrounds himself with more yesmen. Has tried to release a bunch of singles since then with zero hype.
Sep 6, 2022 True but there's a difference between having religion in your life to having religion control your life. There's also many other factors that have been a constant throughout his career that have got worse and worse and resulted in the broken version we have of Kanye right now, such as his arrogance. I used to worship Kanye's music and I'll still check out his new stuff. But in all honesty, JIK I couldn't even finish, Donda 1 and 2 got 1 spin each from me and I don't think I even revisited even one song. Horrible isn't it? I would've classed myself as a big fan for the first c.5 years of his career. AOBR and Strange Clouds both as d--- close as you can get to modern day classics. Those mixtapes, d---. No Genre, EPIC...phew. I think he's still got what it takes to make a good song. He still seems to have an ok ear for beats. The elements album you could make a good album from by taking 3-4 tracks from each one. He's released a new album recently hasn't he? I think I saw the cover of it and I remember thinking I could've done a better job in MS Paint so haven't listened to one track from it.
Sep 7, 2022 i used to be a huge bob fan. Ever since he put out “I’ll be in the sky” . d--- shame he got all weird . Lupe fiasco is another one.
Sep 7, 2022 That song wasn’t really about Lupe, it was more about knowing when your run is over and when to hang it up, I just used Lu as an example because Lasers and F&L2 s----d. I think his work since then has been cool. Surprised anyone remembers my music tbh
Sep 7, 2022 I still liked Acid Rap last I listened to it — a tarnished legacy doesn't necessarily mean their previous albums don't hold up, just that their bad projects/dumb antics start to overshadow their good stuff
Sep 7, 2022 for example Kanye received widespread acclaim for like 80% of his career, but the past 20% has overshadowed it at this point
Sep 7, 2022 I think acid rap is ruined because his personality and music that followed it made me certain he has never done acid nor does he have any interesting thoughts about anything
