Nov 15, 2016 They had to do it. Same as if someone suspended wins it. Unfortunately this time it had to be awarded retrospectively. Not the first time a Brownlow has been awarded retrospectively anyway. It's understandably weird to receive however (I can't remember who) but one athlete summed up these scenarios the best. He received a medal under similar circumstance and when people asked if he felt like he really deserved it he saod he absolutely did because he looks back at how hard he worked to get there anyway.
