Jan 27, 2015 I've always found Encore fascinating. It's held together (barely) by a handful of good songs but at that stage was still an absolute shock. I agree with the article though - Encore is the final chapter in the story arc, but its not at all what you would have expected. There's a burst onto the scene, the rise to fame and the cherry on top in Lose Yourself and 8 Mile. but the story still needed to come to an end - that skit at the end of Encore is so fitting - its like a movie where everyone dies at the end. When I'm Gone may not have been Eminem in his prime but it played its role as the 'credits rolling' at the end. Even with Encore being the sub-par album that it is, Em would still be remembered as a potential GOAT if he had ended his career right there, after Curtain Call. 90% of what he's released since has been absolute s---, his legacy has already been ruined in my opinion. At this rate he'll end up something like LL Cool J, releasing increasingly embarrassing albums until he completely fades into obscurity.
Jan 27, 2015 Pretentious piece of s--- article. Encore sucks, except for a few highlights, end of story.
Jan 27, 2015 The drugs are what really f----- him over. I always thought that songs like We As Americans, Bully, and Like Toy Soldiers were just as good as White America, Cleaning Out My Closet and Business. He had it in him to make a good fourth album, but then he flew off the rails.
Jan 27, 2015 Encore shoulda been full of lovesongs. Crazy in Love, Spend Some Time, and Love You More are the best songs on the album.
Jan 27, 2015 ^ this silly Dutch fa---- make an idiot out of himself again Also just wanted to say there's not a single song I like on recovery. Worst album in history
Jan 27, 2015 Always shared this view of the album. It's a piece of s---, but it's an absolutely fascinating piece of s---.
