I remember when I was in middle school I considered myself to be one of those "real hip hop fans" and completely disregarded rappers like Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Drake etc due to their subject matter. Ugh..... What a terrible phase that was.

Well... I thought Drake was more R&B than rapper if I have to admit back when he was debuting. My friends were telling me about this Canadian rapper and that he was amazing. I thought he was alright. Definitely changed opinion after his last 2 albums & "Mixtape"

admittedly went through a backpacker phase. only listened to 90s hip hop and underground s---. It was actually the emergence of Lil Wayne that changed my mind. Discovered some awesome music in that time i guess.

There's a few artists I downloaded their mixtape based off hype and hated them at first for whatever reason (bad quality, using other rapper's beats, being different) and then had to go back and re-educate myself when they dropped their label debut and it was hot.

    J. Cole
    B.o.B.
Chance the Rapper (hasn't released but I hated Acid Rap on first listen)

Relapse is widely recognized as a bad album, even a good portion of stans recognize it as one. I'm waiting for you explain otherwise so I can rebuttal.

Relapse was widely recognized as a bad album, but in the last few years many people realized that it is not. I was really surprised to see that its hated here tbh.
btw your argument wasnt an argument because you just said that many people dislike it.

*sigh* that wasn't my argument..... You clearly don't understand how debates work so i suppose I'll just go ahead. Relapse is a well produced but poorly executed album clustered with forced rhyme schemes (which I'm sure will be part of your reasoning as to why it's a great album or good album whatever) in order to compensate for it's lack of strong song writing. After a 5 year haitus, Eminem attempted to recreate his old protagonist/shock value style of rapping with a serial killer twist and it fell flat d--- near all around. The jokes weren't funny nor clever or witty, the accent immediately throws listeners off and is unappealing. Throughout the album he comes off as so focused on the rhyming aspect of the music that he completely disregards the actual writing, which also makes the rhymes come off as forced and unimpressive compared to his earlier music where they came off as effortless and some times unintentional. Relapse as an album didn't accomplish what it was set out to be. Overall it's a failed attempt of an artist trying to recreate an older style of himself.
