@Slyk wanted your input on this, I ran it by @Rick James. I met @Winter back in like 07 or 08 on a battle site. We had tournaments, records, titles/ a champion, we also had certain amount of judges depending on the user count we had. But I was curious if anyone would be interested in this just for the competition sake. the battles we had back on that site were text battles, but I think it'd be dope to have recorded ones, and work a system out of judges, criteria for scoring etc. And for people who cant record maybe have text battles for them too?

But since the flame thing is catching on i thought the titles/battle record could be implemented like the flame. anyway just a thought, I've been trying to think of ways to get the forum popping and more entertaining, and the beef season thing was pretty popular, so i thought just a competitive battle section would be cool. If enough people are interested id love to work out details. @CreativeSXN

h--- yes! I would love to see this happen. I was on hiphopave.net from 04-09 when they shut down for good. And battling in this exact vein was a huge force on the forum. That definitely helped elevate my pen game a lot.

i like this idea as well, especially since we already have some rappers on this message board who would hopefully participate. i don't have much experience with battling, but i would give it a try.

sounds like the perfect job for @WPG and @Donkey Kong Cuntry. i can assure you they'd take it very seriously lol. you guys up for being the judges?

I think we need a well rounded judge panel. Let's be honest, this forum has alot of trolling for the sake of trolling and its great, some of the characters and personas people have on here has created some of the greatest moments on here. BUT, if we get this idea off the ground, lets try to keep it legit, and just for the sake of creativity and competition. Im also down to be a judge, one of my favorite things in the world is battle rap, I always have a hard time trying to get people to tune into them because theyre usually longer than they wanna watch. So with that being said I think we need well rounded judge panels (maybe even rotate them?) Possibly have a judges votes, and also an open poll where the rest of the forum can vote? Because thats always been a big factor at some points in battles, was judge decisions, and crowd decisions and responses so it might be cool to incorporate that.

-Each judge needs to state what theyre looking for in a battle, and what they base their criteria on.
- We need to figure out if both ppl will just drop the song at the same time or if one person goes first and the other responds (on the site i was apart of we did it both ways)
- Times to drop need to be agreed upon before the battles start (we all have jobs and life, and it takes time to write, record, mix etc) I say let the competitors decide on that.
- We can create a Sound Cloud page for the battles, we can sequence the songs into one file and upload them
- we can have recorded battles, text battles, and if you all want maybe some people could just do accapella battles? If it gets taken serious im also down to provide some mixing and mastering for everything
- Once match ups are decided i think we need to give a decent amount of time for everyone to prepare, write, record, get everything mixed and mastered. hip hop beef its like 48 hours respond!!! But thats all personal issues and this is for love of the art so I'd like this to be set up like the sport it is.

So lets hammer out some details, let me know if you all like/dislike any of the suggestions/ have any of your own. I just think for this work it needs to have some guidelines, a system for match ups/ judging and people having the prep time for it all. and h--- if it gets popular maybe during the prep time it increases hype and we can promote it?
