I like how they put the focus on Mike at the end. We were following Saul and then the camera goes to Mike and we follow him. That was dope imo.

This was the best episode of the season, imo. I'm a little bored by Mike's inclusion because we know what happens to him by the end, but seeing the cops at his door is intriguing.

    alright, lets cool it lol

    >True detective gets crazy praise for its directing

    >It only has a few more episodes to its name than better call saul

    >I think better call sauls directing is better

    What's hard to understand?

what episode has been better directed than the drug heist in True Detective? If Kanye was in Better Call Saul I'd probably never watch it because of you. The reviews would be horrifying

Not worth having this conversation with someone whose whole mentality is to dismiss what I have to say

    :emoji_thumbsup:

edit: and since you're a bit slow, me thinking better call Saul has better directing overall doesn't take anything away from the quality of TD, or specific standout scenes/moments

I mean, the direction last episode was its weakest feature, for one thing. @Narsh. So you're offbase to cite that, especially regarding True Detective, which was often a director showcase (h/t @Worm)

BCS is good, but its got issues it still needs to overcome, imo, just by the nature of it being a prequel. It also pales to Breaking Bad, which had amazingly directed episodes like Fly to point to. TD can point to the drug heist episode, etc.

Thanks for explaining your terrible views in a simpler way for me to process. You never jump the gun on saying how good something is, overrate anything, you're better looking and smelling than me also. Thank you again.

great show, even though Saul brother annoys me with the electoral phobia.

Nice to see them get in depth with Mike storyline. Curious to know if eventually they fast forward when Saul in the bunker with Walt and their go separate ways.

Im hoping they show how Gus & El Poyo Loco food chain are built or how Mike meets Gus...how Sal maybe meets Gus before setting him up with Walt.

I like the show, but I'm never fiending for the next episode. I DVR it and usually watch a day or two later. It's a fun show. It isn't anything more than that right now though.

The issues BCS needs to overcome (and there obviously are some) aren't related to the directing though.

And you're right about the standout moments in TD (BB doesn't have anything to do with this conversation, I was just comparing BCS and TD's directing). If this conversation actually went anywhere instead of @Worm going for jokes as always (no matter how off base they are) I would have touched on how fluid, and engaging, I find the directing on Better Call Saul. How the aesthetic, the way it's sharper and more stark than BB, the ever-creative camera angles, etc, all make it consistently exciting to watch.

Whereas TD was a "directors showcase" in that, aside from sweeping establishing shots and highlighting the locale, it was centered around a few key set pieces (the drug heist, the final fight, etc).

I also didn't "cite" the last episode as my example, I just said in general lol.

Cool. Point out one time I've "jumped the gun on saying how good something is" -- meaning, when Ive overrated something and been wrong or off base in retrospect

    I'll wait

I would honestly LOVE if people that tried to call me out for this kind of s--- ever actually backed up what they said.

inb4 you site these last few posts as your example because you can't actually come up with anything else :khaled2:

Im not either, and that's kind of one of my complaints for the show. But from a technical POV there's so much going right for the show that I don't mind that it doesn't have anything really driving it forward at the moment...

but like, while breaking bad had the concept of Walt "breaking" from the 1st ep...i think Saul is supposed to be more wavering. He's kind of just letting life take him in every which way at the moment.

You've already crowned All Day a classic after the first day it was released. This show, while it's been very good so far, is not Breaking Bad. It could continue to be good and even great but it could also become terrible in a few episodes very easily. I doubt it will become terrible, but I have the restraint to wait until giving something such as a song, show or whatever a "classic" rating until it's been given enough time to do so.

Youre wrong from the first sentence.

Find the post where I did that. If anything I agreed with Swizz or liked his post when he called it a classic.

I've just been saying it's great.

I also didn't agree with WPG's ranking of it as the 2nd best Kanye single.

I never compared this show to Breaking Bad either...and I never called this show a classic...ALL I've been doing is commenting on the episodes as they happen.

And as it stands, it's only like 3 episodes away from having more than True Detective, so I made that comparison

so, basically, none of your complaints about me are rooted in reality -- but rather in a tick to make fun of me when I say something you don't understand :emoji_thumbsup:

You've said All Day is better then all of Drakes after it being out less than a day. This is getting way off track lol. I'm really not making fun of you for the most part. I just think you like to jump to conclusions and get over excited way to early when it comes to things you have high expectations for. That's how people get let down Narsh

Yeah, this makes sense. @Narsh you're twisting what I'm saying in a puzzling, dispiriting way. The issues aren't wholly the directing -- although in the case of Monday's episode, there were clearly some choices that bogged down the tone and themes of the show. Jimmy's visits to his clients could have been much tighter, done in a montage, etc.

Yes, I evoked BB. Because that's clearly the show's biggest problem, lol. And, again, I evoked BB because it -- like TD -- are standout examples of top notch direction. BCS, while good and sometimes great, just isn't at the place where it can touch either. BB and TD were unique first efforts from a singular creative voice, establishing a fascinating universe. BCS -- by its own admission -- its still giving nods to its predecessor. So when you say, "way it's sharper and more stark than BB" I flat out disagree lol.

I'm glad you enjoy the show tho, I just think you're pre-c-mming on its a--- a lil.

Can the whole forum all just agree that narsh often gets overly enthusiastic about things and stop bitching about it constantly? It's irritating to watch and not warranted in the manner of which it's done. The guys attacking him are the ones going way more over the top. I often find myself thinking narsh is over-praising something and find it odd but who cares? People have opinions. Let's get back to what the thread is about. Also, not gonna lie worm's poems are pretty funny but seriously, chill out.
