Apr 8, 2015 No, I don't think they should be accused for "blowing their load early" for not going with a storyline you wanted. I'm not misconstruing anything. But see, if you go back to that post, the comment on sound editing had NOTHING to do with what I thought about that scene as a whole. It was just an aspect I liked. And I went on to criticize the scene. But, wait for it, you misconstrued what I said and then literally tried to paint me as a "peddling bs" because of that. So where's your defense now? What am I misconstruing now? I have. I've acknowledged the larger problems, but also pointed out what about the show also works. You've acknowledged the larger problems, and then downplayed all other aspects of the show because you want those fixed or addressed first. Which is fine and all, but stop with this bs of trying to write me off as uncritical or a just an overzealous fan. @WPG of course he's right, he's making normal, common sense points. I agree with everything he said, in general, too. the problem is that they only apply to me if you adhere to CA's narrative of how I'm judging this show.
Apr 8, 2015 but dude, you're misconstruing the post, lol. andy is right--a show that spends a sizable portion of its first season setting up these huge, on-the-nose turns for the characters is at fault, no matter how you feel about the choices on an individual basis.
Apr 8, 2015 But he's not really discussing that aspect of the plot? I'd love to get specific and talk about what actual "on the nose" turns might have been premature etc, but the discourse so far has seemed too generalized for me. Your post here is probably the most specific we've gotten on what's actually a point of valid debate for s1 of BCS (and I know Andy brought it up too in passing re: Chuck, but it was surrounded by the rest of his snide remarks about me being uncritical). Saying this show is serviceable at best so far is as disingenuous as someone saying the show is perfect. And I've done neither. I have basically the same complaints as CA, but i think the show came together in a great fashion regardless. As i texted andy, it makes perfect sense to need the show to reconcile with some fundamental flaws you think it has, but i want him to be honest about that -- not act like the show was just up to par in all regards. if @captain awesome has any more issues with me tho, that fuckboi can pull up
Apr 8, 2015 but you're still missing the point, lol. as a practice, spending time deliberately setting up future arcs is bad. andy was criticizing that. that's fair.
Apr 8, 2015 @Narsh the last two posts you've made are very aggravating. They just make little sense -- you're quibbling about small injustices I've given your silly points and like @WPG said, just missing the big picture. My issues about the final episode, and Chuck's arc are very legit. They make the show good, not great. What are you babbling about even lolllllll. You've lost this, frankly, and want to snow us in a blizzard of text. Like, is it a big conspiracy Paul and I have the same issues with your critical and argumentative skills?
Apr 8, 2015 How Im I missing the point if I just agreed with you that was a point i'd love to talk more about lol. I just said that CA's point about Chuck's "reveal" etc was surrounded by his annoying personal attacks at my weed smoking habits but for real, I don't think you guys are getting that I literally agree with all of CA's complaints about the show. Just not how much weight he places in those faults. Serious question though -- as a practice, deliberately setting up future arcs = bad. okay. but what if those future arcs play out really well? and since s1 still had so many great elements at its core, would it really be that big of a detractor from the season's ranking/rating in the future (once the shows over)? ^dont know if that made any sense, but yeah
Apr 8, 2015 Here, let me make it simple for you: Don't misconstrue my points to fit your narrative, only to turn around and act like I"m being annoying for trying to get you to admit that (see: sound editing. you even tried to bring it up again, and act like I used it to defend the bingo scene, when I didn't. You tried to make it seem like it was me trying to show that Im critical of the show on a "technical level" when that wasn't it either. the original post just says that I liked that part lol. You were reaching more than BB narsh). No, it's a common trend of both of you never backing down once you've made whatever bullheaded claim you want to. We can use the sound editing example for this too -- rather than just admit you misread or misconstrued that part, you'll try to paint it as me "quibbling about small injustices" Im just more open with my discourse. Less worried about twisting everything into my favor. I see through you fam m8
Apr 8, 2015 I've enjoyed watching this back and forth from the sidelines but c'mon Narsh you certainly fall into this category too lolololololol.
Apr 8, 2015 Suddenly I'm a bully like @WPG lolll -- @Narsh if you can't handle it, take your ball of enthusiasm and go home. And on the contrary, I often make rhetorical concessions omg, stop being a p----. it was a lighthearted poke. ??? note to self: don't engage with narsh on issues of slight difference and tone.
Apr 8, 2015 Oh come on, I always admit it when someone makes a worthwhile point. My opinions are malleable, as I believe everyone's should be People always misunderstand by overzealous nature as being thickheaded etc. I just love the discussion, and Im ALWAYS open to someone else's rational points. When I type essays on a forum, its to get the other persons POV next, and see if I can reconcile that with my own. NOT to convince them I'm right (unless I am ) CA and WPG notoriously believe they're right, and that's that lol
Apr 8, 2015 I didn't mean to imply that you're thickheaded, but you've gotta admit that sometimes you get overly-defensive when you're defending something you love. It happens to the best of us on discussion forums, I just thought it was funny you were pinning CA/WPG as doing that when you were kinda doing the same thing. Overzealousness can come across as being bullheaded/overly-defensive sometimes (even if you don't actually feel that you're 100% right), is all I'm saying.
Apr 8, 2015 I don't notoriously think I'm right always though? @Narsh if you spent this much time chasing p---- irl as you do giving paul and me shade, youd be swimming in flaps
Apr 8, 2015 i think the difference is I can admit when Im being overly defensive or too excited not everyone is that self-aware tho. im like eminem making a punchline about farting to say f--- you to the haterz tbqh
Apr 8, 2015 Oh, I wasn't meaning to imply that you were either. You're pretty much always logical IMO.
Apr 8, 2015 this is is why SectionEighty needs its own podcast, so that everyone can see im just an inoffensive, lovable, indian with ADHD and so I can yell at Andy, Taylor, Paul and Hasman rather than cut my fingers on my cracked iphone screen
Apr 8, 2015 She doesn't have your number. I'm serious - log off and spit game at girls. edit: but don't r--- them. no means no.
