Aug 10, 2022To be fair, Breaking Bad has one of the best series finales of all time, so that's a very high bar to be up against. I also think they're fundamentally very different shows despite being in the same universe. The stakes are definitely lower, but they always had different stakes you know? I never expected there to be an ending with m--- slaves and nazis and a custom machine gun car — but I suppose that remains to be seen lol.
I thought this week's episode was one of the best of the series and is a prime example of the slow burn this show's been so good at doing. BCS to me was always about watching the slow corruption of Jimmy and how that corruption leaves destruction in his path. It's about him battling his identities — does he want to be Slippin Jimmy or Jimmy McGill Attorney at Law or Saul Goodman or Gene? I saw someone on twitter describe this show as The Assassination of Jimmy McGil by the Coward Saul Goodman and I thought that was a great way to put it.
Don't get me wrong, the cartel stuff is great. I'm always in for more Gus and Mike and Lalo. But I disagree that it carried over half the show. It did border on being too fan servicey to me at times like with the whole building the laundry m--- lab arc (which I still liked cuz I'm a fan lol).

What I love about this show, particularly this season, is that they've managed to create a prequel that makes more sense watching it after Breaking Bad. I absolutely love the mixed timelines and breadcrumb trails.

Lmao f---ing people man. Fans been begging for Walt and Jesse to show up for 6 seasons now. They finally show up in the last stretch of episodes in a way that’s not just fan service but actually enhances the story, and then people complain about “Jesse looking too old”. Wtf where you expecting, it’s been 15 years since BB started. Would you rather see a cgi face or a recast? It’s okay to just enjoy things sometimes.Ordinary Joel, Mothrfckr, Raziel and 2 others like this. -

Breaking bad era vs aftermath scenes def made this ep great but can’t say I expect much the last 2ep. I’m hoping for a great finale but breaking bad went on a roll...every episode was a rollercoaster to end the show...couldn’t wait for the next ep...these last few ep have been anti climatic considering how first half ending ep was great...Ordinary Joel, Worm, J630 and 2 others like this. -

he was in his 20’s doing the show, he looked old in el Camino and even older in this
season 1 Jessie had a very unique lingo and swagger of young suburban kid into hip hop and rock...he was trying hard to do that...wasn’t natural yoOrdinary Joel, DKC, Mothrfckr and 2 others like this. -

El Camino seemed just a little too late to the party. Would've been nice if Jesse's ending had been part of BB overall but it's always nice to have more.Ordinary Joel, Mothrfckr, Ricky and 2 others like this. -

Ya, looking back El Camino could have been blended with BCS ending instead of a full movie but I'm still happy with the movie overall. It was pretty much just Fat Todd that ruins it for meOrdinary Joel, Mothrfckr, Raziel and 2 others like this. -

One of the best episodes of the season. I like that Gene is a mix of Saul and Jimmy, adds another layer to the character. Always enjoy the episodes when they have a set up to pull off. Few foreshadowing moments eluding to Nebraska, so seems like Kim will be involved towards the end in the gene timeline and would make her background flashback scenes, have more value to it all. Look forward to see where it goes from here.
I think Jesse cameo will be after El Camino events and that Kim is involved with the Vacuum business. My predictions anyways, probably way off ha.Ordinary Joel, Mothrfckr, Chrollo and 2 others like this. -

Watched the EP again, very good still. Not a fan of the whole forget this ever happened, never talk about this moment trope they do on prequels to bypass plot holes. . Show is much better than that and normally has better ways of getting around stuff like that.asvdawg, Chrollo, Ordinary Joel and 2 others like this. -

Holy f--- what an episode. Howard being buried next to Lalo was one of the most soul crushing moments of the whole BB universe. 5 more to go!

I mean on strategic grounds, Lalo had the upper hand completely. It was Gus's instincts that helped him in the end. The same instincts that told him not to get in the car back in BB. It's like he's a superhuman in that sense.
Don't know how I feel about Lalo dying in such an anti-climatic way yet, but I loved the Gus monologue that precedes it. Also, I'm glad they're finally moving on from the event we knew was happening sooner or later to new territories of Gene's future, Kim's fate and Jimmy's complete transition to Saul.Ordinary Joel, Detroit24, Mothrfckr and 2 others like this.
