Jul 11, 2022 Apparently Bob had a heart attack when he shot the opening scene of the episode that will air soon. https://www.bbc.com/culture/article/20220708-how-better-call-saul-bettered-breaking-bad
Jul 11, 2022 Spoiler Was thinking the same. Was hoping he'd have a Gus type ending. They could have made that better. We finally know what happened to him though, right under the lab with a bunk mate
Jul 11, 2022 Spoiler It was at least well executed for what they did. Once he shot down Gus’ remaining guards I couldn’t stop thinking “please don’t let Lalo go down due to hubris” so at least they had him filming his investigation as reasoning, he really did need to get that proof for Eladio and he knew exactly how much time he had. That’s how good this show is, that detail >>
Jul 11, 2022 Spoiler Yeah I guess I don't think there's really any way they could have done it I would have liked. He was such a sick character you wanted him to go out in a blaze of glory but I get it. Kind of crazy there's only 5 episodes left and we haven't had one Gene flash forward. Wonder if they're gonna save that for the finale?
Jul 11, 2022 Could this season be any more predictable thus far? JFC. They spelled out was going to happen with that unnecessarily long scene of Gus hiding the gun and counting the paces in the basement in the first half of the season. And Lalo, who I thought was the greatest villain in the BB universe, turned out to be a b----. And incompetent. One and a half days in ABQ and Gus disposes of him with the quickness lol. f---.
Jul 12, 2022 Spoiler I mean on strategic grounds, Lalo had the upper hand completely. It was Gus's instincts that helped him in the end. The same instincts that told him not to get in the car back in BB. It's like he's a superhuman in that sense. Don't know how I feel about Lalo dying in such an anti-climatic way yet, but I loved the Gus monologue that precedes it. Also, I'm glad they're finally moving on from the event we knew was happening sooner or later to new territories of Gene's future, Kim's fate and Jimmy's complete transition to Saul.
Jul 12, 2022 Spoiler Yeah it sucks to see Lalo go but there was only so much more they could do when we know he doesn’t end up winning against Gus. Overall it’s hard not to be a little letdown with how it all went down but it was still a good ep imo
Jul 12, 2022 Holy f--- what an episode. Howard being buried next to Lalo was one of the most soul crushing moments of the whole BB universe. 5 more to go! Lmao it was meant to be obvious what was gonna happen, that's not the point. Why else do you think they included that scene? It's about how it plays out, and f--- me was it good. Also, predictable season? You're lying if you say that you predicted how the Howard scheme was gonna play out. No one saw that s--- coming.
Jul 12, 2022 It wasn't so much the way he died that bothered me. I mean he should have had a crazy ending, but I get not every character will get one, so I can deal with that. What bothered me was that he knew Gus would go to the Laundromat, was able to get in there undetected, and the guard just happened to not be at his station as he broke in, stopped a fan without making any noise, and slipped in then took out every guard. I would never complain about this on most other shows, but the writing for breaking bad universe has been so good you expect more from the story. It just felt like they were rushing the Lalo storyline after slowly building him up to what he became. So hopefully that means they did that because what's coming up will be crazier
Jul 12, 2022 This also makes the Kim storyline more interesting now. If she was going to get killed you would think it would have been at the hands of Lalo. Now that he's gone the only way I can see her dying is if she dies in an accident or offs herself. Looking more likely she just leaves him
Jul 12, 2022 Well well well. Spoiler I'm surprised that happened so quickly as the foreshadowing made it somewhat obvious. As least some of it. 4 weeks left to tie up one loose end really. Question is, will these last 4 episodes be fast or slow paced?
Jul 12, 2022 Very good episode, direction was different class. Yeah I mentioned the foreshadowing this season has been way to obvious and was again. But enjoyed the outcome, even if was bit underwhelming for one of the main characters in the series. Looking forward to the conclusion of Saul/Kim storyline now.
Jul 12, 2022 Probably due the fact he not a main player in the BB timeline and was a throwaway name for one scene. Everything now, needs to come into the start of the BB timeline. So had to conclude his arc this way for it to make sense and get Jimmy to where he needs be and end Kims arc. I think they will wrap the saul timeline in the next two episodes and then switch to Gene timeline for the final two.
Jul 12, 2022 Spoiler With only 5 episodes left I’m finding it hard to figure out how they’re gonna get Saul’s character from here to where it was at the start of BB. We’re still 4 years before the BB timeline starts and Walt and Jesse both have to appear somehow. Feels like a time jump (other than the jump to Gene’s era) is gonna need to happen. Maybe Kim becomes the prime suspect for killing Howard somehow and goes the vacuum guy route, we see it finally do Jimmy in and then get a jump to a couple years later. I don’t know, he just still seems pretty far off from the guy we see in BB so I’m interested in how they’re gonna get him there…
Jul 12, 2022 Forum disclaimer...I'm only using spoiler tags night of. After that it's fair game ah I did forget about the vacuum guy. That makes more sense. I was thinking the same that the walt and jesse appearance would be a flash forward, but they could also just have Saul or Kim randomly bump into them in the wild present time like Hank and Gomez... Jesse would probably be in HS or just out a few years at this point I would guess
