Sep 4, 2020 I’m flattered. But man, can’t hold a candle to @Sav Stanfield. The amount of work he puts into his music thoughts and whatnot have sooooo much effort. He’s such a staple on here. I love that dude, always teaching us new s--- imo. Ima speak for Sav (my bad bruddah), but we appreciate you more!
Sep 4, 2020 Is it me, or is Royce like... downgrading? Idk he’s sounding like the old man nowadays lol, but his rapping got better if that makes sense
Sep 4, 2020 No I'm not talking about the discussion leaning toward Eminem, that's to be expected—like I'm not expecting a 20 page thread about Payroll Giovanni lol. It was people talking about actively cutting a bunch of other rappers out of the song and talking about how only Big Sean, Royce, and Eminem were good on it (esp when Sean so clearly has the worst verse to me). also fair enough about letting people discover stuff honestly Dude I hate rap twitter discourse I promise you lol. It's just people taking about something that was widely considered good/popular a few years ago and deciding it sucks now for no real reason. It's far more toxic than here. I'd take stan discussion here over rap nerds on twitter posturing to impress david drake lol. Em's verse is cool. Only heard once but my favs were prob Tee Grizzley, Kash Doll, Boldy James, Drego. Agree Sean's verse is by far the worst lol.
Sep 4, 2020 On Big Sean’s verse When he was going “uhhh” like Sada Baby... HE SHOULDVE KEPT THAT THE WHOLE VERSE BC I WAS TWO STEPPING TO THAT s---
Sep 4, 2020 That's what I wanted to say but my poor english said "no". Exactly, his mic presence is amazing, but he preach that KRS-One type of stuff nowadays.
Sep 4, 2020 Can we give big Sean credit tho for using his platform to give a lot of amazing artists a shot? Respect
Sep 4, 2020 Man we are like one big family here and I love it lol @cpt awesome WPG joint acc @Donkey Kong Cuntry @Rick James @Michael Myers group hug guys. It’s like we all had a bar fight, and decided to sit down to a beer on the same stool.
Sep 4, 2020 Let's team up with @Sav Stanfield and @awhellno to make a thread to put people on to all these rappers tbh
Sep 4, 2020 Detroit rap scene thread pt 2? Yeah let’s do it. I love regional rap topics nowadays bc you really really learn about some cool dudes. thanks to something I’m working on, I learned about Alabama rap!
Sep 4, 2020 create it! you got Sav, Antman, Fire Squad, a new and improved Grimace, Jeans - that's a solid squad to create real discussion about rising artists. And man IDK, I agree with you that's silly/disrespectful to new artists, but it's a nine-minute song. Letting people chop up verses and remake songs in their image is a long tested part of hh culture, especially online lol. just b/c its stans doesnt man you should demean them. Ik, and I'm not trying to take you to task - you aren't @Brubbles, you're an actual member here. But I also think another trait of rap twitter elitism is disavowing the toxicity of rap twitter lol. you know? that's become an en vogue part of the discourse, eating its tail, which to me underscores the faux elitism and smugness of these self appointed tastemakers. it is what it is, but i just lament when that kind of above of it all tonality descends here, which is already fragile in terms of acitivity u know? being a Stan is the first step of Not being a stan etc.
Sep 4, 2020 oh ya shout out @awhellno and @skip and @Ordinary Joel too - we have so much talent dsicovering and discussing new artists here, i wish we'd let the stans have their lane, while also having a separate lane for new, underground artists. who was the canadian poster who just wrote for complex? we need a Writers section, make it a real community
Sep 4, 2020 @Altereagle416 I was talking about a writersSXN with @Slyk but he's on a road trip rn Chika and Flo Milli are from Alabama but those are really the current only ones I know, besides people like Gucci who were born there and came up in ATL or elsewhere.
