Well good job @Enigma you tagged wpg and he came in 'you are dumb because you have a different opinion' as always.

Afterwards you can see more people seem to agree with me. I don't see how one side HAS to be right lol

Enigma Civil liberties > Police safety

This is a clear example of google confirmation bias. You googled the opposition of a stance in order to find stats that back up your point rather than look at what a majority of the peer-reviewed and academic research has concluded. That's not to mention that The Daily Wire is a conservative opinion website. Let me go ahead and address this though:

    1. Yeah, The Daily Wire did a nice job of nitpicking through the stats of this paper. This was the conclusion of that Harvard paper:

The issue of police violence and its racial incidence has become one of the most divisive topics in American discourse. Emotions run the gamut from outrage to indifference. Yet, very little data exists to understand whether racial disparities in police use of force exist or might be explained by situational factors inherent in the complexity of police-civilian interactions. Beyond the lack of data, the analysis of police behavior is fraught with difficulty including, but not limited to, the reliability of the data that does exist and the fact that one cannot randomly assign race.

Aka there wasn't enough data for them to come to a conclusive conclusion. This has been another major issue with police departments as well; they keep incomplete records that aren't readily available. Also there are other academic papers that's conclusions go further than this:

    http://scholarship.law.berkeley.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=2819&context=facpubs

    http://scholar.harvard.edu/files/pager/files/pager_ajs.pdf

    2. The WPP report they are using here focused on one police department, Spokane Police Department. Spokane, Washington is a city with a population of less than a quarter million. It's demographics are overwhelming white (shocker). In no way is this one police department representative of all police departments across the U.S.

    3. This is by far the stupidest point this article has tried to make and pretty much discredits the whole article. This is essentially the "yeah, well if black lives matters then why is there so much black on black crime" retort. It's apples and oranges--the issues are not the same. Crime in minority communities is due to poverty, socioeconomic status, social capital etc. There is no correlation with crime and race. There is a correlation with police conduct and race.

    4. Wow... talk about jumping through hoops with this one. So the DOJ conducted an investigation of the Ferguson police department after the riots to see if there was any type of racial discrepancies in how they were policing the community. Their investigation concluded that there were racial discrepancies: one of them being that black people were more likely to get pulled over for traffic stops. The book that this article cites to counter that suggests that because black people [on average] speed more often according to a study done in N. Carolina and New Jersey, explains why black people in Ferguson, Missouri are disproportionately stopped more for traffic violations. Lol just trying to explain that gave me a headache--it's a major reach. To take results from samples of two totally different locations (N. Carolina & New Jersey) and then try to apply it to a population of another location (Ferguson, Missouri)--it's just not accurate.

    5. Again... another incredibly idiotic point. It's like they're defending racial stereotyping by police. Their argument here is that since African-Americans commit more crime, it's okay if police stop-and-frisk them more often--regardless if those stop-and-frisk's don't lead to anything incriminating. That's literally the definition of racial profiling.

    6. I don't even know where to begin with this.... the U.S. consists of 5% of the the world's population but 25% of the world's prison population. And even with that being an undeniable fact, this lady still thinks MORE people should be in prison? She thinks black people are "under represented" in U.S. prisons when they make up 40% of the U.S. prison population?!

    7. Okay, this point really isn't relevant at all so I'm not sure why they put it here. It states that about half of black people (according to one poll) support "broken window policing." Broken window policing is essentially police that crack down hard on minor crimes in a neighborhood in order to prevent more serious crimes from happening. I guess this is the author trying to say "black people are on my side!" Idk... broken window policing has proven to be inefficient though. No results stem from being more harsh on minor crimes, in fact, it worsens relations between police and the community.

Like I said before @Enigma I am not a fan of these statistics (against and in favour) because those are made by people who sit behind their desks all day having NO idea how it is on the streets for police officers. I watched several interviews/documentaries that show how it is out there. And how the media/"""investigators""'" comes up with conclusions based on theoretic numbers.

And of course, I live in the Netherlands. We have the same discussion here (less worse than there) but here some celebrities also say that cops are racial profiling. Idiots who have no idea HOW cops end up acting like that. Again, I'm not saying that goes for all of them, or that its always right, but people fail to look from their perspectives and ignore the fact that most people who do get in trouble with police, had it coming. Just play by the rules. And yes, of course it happens that innocent people get in trouble, which is indeed not rigt, but on the other hand most of them break the law themselves.

Also the big discussion here in nl is: privacy vs safety. Do you want the government to stay out of your personal info/not being able to put you to the side of the road, or give up some privacy to keep it safe? If you got nothing to hide whats the problem?
