    Let's say we have three people, one of them is a virgin and single, the other is in a relationship and the other single but very promiscuous. By your logic their mental well being is determined by their promiscuity and relationship status. Whereas in reality, everyone and every circumstance is different and everyone has their own beliefs about it. Being in a serious relationship can make one person happy, but it can make someone else miserable. Being a virgin until marriage can be viewed strongly by one person and be laughed off by another. Someone may have had bad experiences with relationships, someone may have had bad experiences with one night stands, someone probably doesn't wanna be a virgin but he's too autistic not to be.

    It's different for everyone so your blanket statements like "Hooking up affects you negatively" has no merit at all and is the ramblings of a bitter man who's overly emotional

    Monogamous relationships were created by society. There's no historical or scientific/physiological support to your r-----ed claims. On the other hand there is evidence and it's agreed upon by historians, biologists and psychologists that people are genetically hardwired to like sex and f--- attractive mates first and foremost but society and culture has steered us to long relationships with one person. And again, that's fine for a lot of people, some people prefer to be single, while others prefer to have fun before settling down. Everyone's different. You're pretty socially unaware for a psych major aren't you?

    I don't believe he's being uptight nor saying something to be mocked about.

    Call it for what it is - no matter your view on it, sex is a powerful thing. Some people choose to be more guarded or rather have better control because you're respecting its deeper meaning to you. Therefore choosing who to share that intimacy with is also important
